Becker,DeanoftheSchooloftheArts.Thedigitalcatalogueforthisexhibitisavailable
hereandtheposterhere.
OnSeptember10,from9:30a.m.until6p.m.inBuellHallontheColumbiacampusthere
willbeaconferenceconsistingofthreepublicroundtablesfeaturingadistinguishedgroup
ofinternationalscholarsandartists.Oneroundtablewilladdressprotestactionsandtheir
efficacy,rangingfromthe"SaturdayMothers"to"BlackLivesMatter"asecondwilldiscuss
strategiesformobilizingpoliticalactionaroundmemorysitesinSantiago,Istanbul,and
NewYorkandathirdwillexplorehowlivestouchedbypoliticalviolenceandsocialdeath
canbereanimatedthroughwritingandart.Thefullconferenceprogramfortheday's
eventsisavailablehereandtheconferenceposterhere.
ThedaywillconcludewithacommunitywideWishingTreecommunitymemoryprojecton
theBuellHalllawnthatwillmemorializethevictimsofviolenthistories.
