OBEDIENCE in the Bible is SEXUAL

Summary:
Christian women are taught to 'obey' their husbands 'in everything'. But
careful examination of Bible passages about authority shows that the context
is sexual. 'Unquestioning obedience to one's husband in all areas of life' is a
false doctrine. And 'obey' is a one-sided over-legalistic translation of what is
described as mutual submission in sexual service.

'POWER' WORDS ARE SEXUAL

Words about 'power', about 'authority', about 'dominion', about a man 'ruling'
over his wife, about 'subjection', about women 'obeying' or more literally
'listening to' their husbands, are about sex. Moreover there is a reciprocal
obligation -- women have power over men.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy pain and thy
conception; in pain thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be
to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

1Co 7:4 The wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband:
and likewise also the husband hath not power over his own body, but the
wife.

Gen 16:2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, Jehovah hath restrained
me from bearing; go in, I pray thee, unto my handmaid; it may be that I
shall obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to [shama is translated
elsewhere as 'obeyed'] the voice of Sarai.

Num 5:20 (ESV) But if you have gone astray, though you are under your
husband's authority, and if you have defiled yourself, and some man other
than your husband has lain with you,

Jer 3:13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed
against Jehovah thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers
under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith Jehovah.
14 Return, O backsliding children, saith Jehovah; for I am a husband unto
you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring
you to Zion:

SELF CONTROL

1Co_7:37 (ALT) he 'has authority [or, control] over his own desire'
SUBJECTION -- It's talking about FAITHFULNESS toward
one's OWN
Eph 5:21-22 subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ. 22
Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Notice the emphasis on your 'own' spouse -- it is teaching against

promiscuity.

1Pe 3:1-7 In like manner, ye wives, be in subjection to your own

husbands; that, even if any obey not the word, they may without the word
be gained by the behavior of their wives; 2 beholding your chaste
behavior coupled with fear. 3 Whose adorning let it not be the outward
adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting
on apparel; 4 but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in the
incorruptible apparel of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God
of great price. 5 For after this manner aforetime the holy women also,
who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own
husbands: 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose children
ye now are, if ye do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.

Gen 18:12 And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old
shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

'DESPISING DOMINION' is about HOMOSEXUALITY

'Despise dominion' or 'set at nought dominion' refer to the men of Sodom
wanting to rape the angels. They were despising the normal sexual relationship
between a man and his wife:

2Pe 2:7-10 and delivered righteous Lot, sore distressed by the lascivious
life of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in
seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their
lawless deeds): 9 the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of
temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment unto the day of
judgment; 10 but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of
defilement, and despise dominion. Daring, self-willed, they tremble not to
rail at dignities: 11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power,
bring not a railing judgment against them before the Lord.

Jud 1:7-8 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them,
having in like manner with these given themselves over to fornication and
gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the
punishment of eternal fire. 8 Yet in like manner these also in their
dreamings defile the flesh, and set at nought dominion, and rail at
dignities.
