1). ACTIVITY: INSTALLATION OF CHAIN LINK FENCE


This activity deals with the installation of chain link fence as per approved drawings and
project specifications.

The purpose of this method statement is to describe the procedure which shall be followed for
Installation of chain link fence works to comply with schedule of finishes, the General, Architectural
& Civil Specifications for the Project and Owner / Engineer requirements.

5). ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES AND ORGANIZATION CHART

o Site construction and his team will report to project manager.

o Make arrangement for availability of all relevant documents.
o Ensure the availability of necessary documents & resources available with
Subcontractor.
o Liaison with Owner/Engineer & Subcontractor in-charges for necessary test &
inspection.
o Tracks the schedule & plan work accordingly.
o Liaison with all Electrical/MEP work in-charges for all interfaces works and plans
the work accordingly at site.

Pre-commencement Requirements
Approved drawings and work procedures shall be obtained from O/E prior to the start of
activity.
Safety regulations as per specifications and standard.
All HSE activities related to the project will be based on the company issued HSE
Management System Guidelines
Area clearance obtained from other discipline / sub contractor
General Requirements

Before start of the work the following shall be ensured:

Tools, Equipment & Machinery is suitable and approved for use.


Availability of suitable quantity of approved material for the works as per specification and
O/E requirements.
Area clearance obtained from other discipline/subcontractor.
Erection of scaffolding shall be installed by certified scaffolders.
Proper erection of scaffolding shall be inspected by HSE before using.
Delivery, Storage & Handling of Materials
All materials shall comply with the specifications regarding quality, dimensions, strength etc.
The material shall be approved and shall be used as per the Approved drawings.

Execution

A) Surface Preparation

Clean the surfaces of the area where to start the installation of Chain link fence.
Installation of scaffolding for work place shall be inspected and marked by green tag prior to
use.
Layout markings including coordinates and levels shall be done by the surveyor for the
execution of work.

B) Installation/Erection of Beams and Channels

Prior to start of the activity, the location of intermediate / straining / corner post & temporary
gate post shall be marked all around the capacitor bank

Necessary holes shall be drilled in the marked location for fixing the posts with anchor bolts

Intermediate / straining / corner post & temporary gate post welded with base plate shall be
properly aligned over the drilled holes and shall be fixed rigidly with anchor bolts.

The door frames shall be fixed with approved hinges and screws to the gate posts.

Doors are aligned to the line, level and elevation as per the approved drawings.

The line wires shall be provided and fixed to the posts with approved accessories as per
approved drawings.

The line wires shall be strained between straining post to straining post, end post to straining
post and gate post to straining post by fixing clamps & short winders to strain the wires.

Once the line wires are strained, then it shall be secured to the posts by means of stirrup wire.

Unroll the fence fabric near the line posts and weave the end mesh to get the required length
from straining post to straining post.

Weave stretcher bars through the end mesh and secure it to the first straining / end / gate posts
(whichever is applicable). The other end of the fence fabric shall be pulled to the required
tension and then in a similar way stretcher bars shall be weaved through the mesh and secured
to the next straining post.

Once the fencing is strained between straining posts, it shall be tied to the line wire at every
300 mm centres throughout the fence line and also to the posts additionally to give maximum
reinforcement to the structure.

C) Inspection and Testing

Before steel structures erection works to be started, O/E shall be notified through inspection
request.

O/E comments on work shall be rectified and notified for re-inspection, if any.

7). REQUIREMENTS
7.1 Plans /Records and Job instructions (Documentations)
Before commencing the work the following things should be available:

Inspection request for materials, erection & installation


Approved drawings / Material approval for the work
Method statement for the work
Key site plan for that work area
All inspected tools & machineries
Emergency escape route without obstructions
Clearance from electro mechanical in charge

7.2 Trainings

Trained/Experienced & Skilled persons shall be used for the work


All operator / Laborers are safety trained and toolbox shall be conducted for the each potential
hazards mentioned in the Risk assessments.

7.5 Risk Assessment

Risk assessment to be ensured that it is available in the work spot


All control measures as per risk assessed to be implemented and ensured before start of work
All workers shall be made aware of the risk involved in carrying out the activity and
requirement of control measures during toolbox talk

8). EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

In case of any emergency situation the workmen should follow the emergency response
procedure and must gather in the assembly point. The emergency response procedure should
be conveyed to the work men through the toolbox talk in prior to the carrying out of the
activity.
The necessary safety measures will be taken to prevent the accident or injury all the times.
This may include barriers, warning tape, net, signage, watchman, flashing & rotating lights at
night.
MSDS shall be made available prior to the start of the job

Heat stress training will be provided during summer season.


Provision of adequate cool drinking water, shades if necessary and salt tablets will be in place.
Plants & equipment will be provided with back up lights and all other applicable safety
devices.
In case of major Injuries

Do not panic. Call ambulance and notify emergency team at site


Do not move the injured unless he is in danger
If danger exists, he shall be assessed by a trained and qualified first aider
before moving. Use a stretcher.
Do not crowd around the victim. Do not give anything to eat or drink.
Ensure adequate air and lighting.
Only trained and qualified first aider shall treat the victim and ensure that
his airway is kept clear.
Victim shall be transported to hospital in an ambulance.
Preserve the accident scene for further investigation.
In case of Fire
Follow Transco/s approved emergency procedure as per HSE Plan.

In Case of Flood
Evacuate immediately to the nearest highest location you are in.
Notify the Emergency Controller of the site
