Look at the food pyramid. What do you see on the lowest level? Rice,bread, oats,
cereals and noodles are food that provide us energy. The next level is food such as vegetables and
fruits. They keep us free from diseases.
Fish, beef, mutton and chicken are on the third level. They give us protein to build our
body. Finally, the food that you should eat least are cakes, sweets, chocolates and soft drinks.
They make us fat and unhealthy. They contain little or no nutrients at all.
A well balanced meal should consist of a moderate amount of food from every level of
the food pyramid. Therefore, one should eat less from the top level and more as you go down the
food pyramid.
