I.

GENERAL STIPULATIONS

The following abbreviations are used in this Regulations:

The University of Silesia in Katowice is hereinafter referred to as the University,
2.
The Students' Hostels are hereinafter referred to as DS,
3.
The Students' Hostels Housing Area is hereinafter referred to as the Students Housing,
4.
The Council of Tenants is hereinafter referred to as RM,
5.
The Council of the Students' Hostels Housing Area is hereinafter referred to as the
Council of the Students' Housing,
6.
The Schedule of granting accommodation in the Students' Hostels is hereinafter referred
to as the Schedule,
7.
Summer holidays from 1 July to 30 September are hereinafter referred to as the
Holidays.

DS are buildings of the University of Silesia used for accommodating the entitled persons.
The following persons are entitled to apply for the accommodation in the DS:
a) students and PhD students of the University of Silesia
b) students and PhD students of other universities and colleges
c) persons who are neither students nor PhD students

The University of Silesia manages the following DS that constitute Students' Hostels Housing
Area in the cities in which the Universitys faculties are located:
a) Students' Hostels Housing Area Katowice, consisting of DS no. 1 at ul. Studencka 15
(15 Studencka St.), DS no. 2 at ul. Studencka 17 (17Studencka St.), DS no. 7 at ul.
Studencka 16 (16 Studencka St.),
b) Students' Hostels Housing Area Sosnowiec, consisting of DS no. 2 at ul. Sucha 7a
(7a Sucha St.), DS no. 3 at ul. Sucha 7b (7b Sucha St.), DS no. 4 at ul. Lwowska 2
(2 Lwowska St.), Ds no. 5 at ul. Lwowska 8 (8 Lwowska St.),
c) Students' Hostels Housing Area Cieszyn, consisting of DS Cieszko at ul. Bielska 64 (64
Bielska St.), DS Uka at ul. Bielska 66 (66 Bielska St.), DSN at ul. Niemcewicza 8
(8 Niemcewicza St.).
4. Every year the Department of the Students' Matters provides the distribution list of rooms in
DS, excluding the Universitys Faculties in Cieszyn, which is then approved by the rector. The
distribution list for the Faculties in Cieszyn is provided by the managers of the dean's offices in
agreement with the manager of the Students Housing in Cieszyn. The distribution list is then
approved by the deans of the Faculties in Cieszyn.
5. The distribution list stipulated in point 4 provides for a number of rooms at the dean's disposal,
designated for the students/PhD students of the particular Faculties and a number of rooms at
the rector's disposal, designated for:
the Universitys students/PhD students who appeal to the higher authority in case the dean
turns down their application,
disabled and/or ill University's students/PhD students with medical recommendations,
foreigners, especially persons admitted to the University in a given academic year if they are
admitted on the basis of educational programmes, international agreements. This also
applies to the participants of language courses for foreigners organized by Szkoa Jzyka i
Kultury Polskiej (School of Polish Language and Culture),

other persons.
The stipulations of the Regulations shall be binding for all the persons residing in DS, including
visitors.
All of the tenants are represented by the Council of Tenants and the Council of the Students'
Hostels Housing Area , which are bodies of the University's Student Government.
The administrative and economic matters of DS shall be in the hands of the University's
administration staff managed by the manager of DS and the manager of the Students Housing.
Free rooms may be granted to persons stipulated in 3 point 6 or they become guest rooms.
The rules on accommodation in guest rooms and payments for guest rooms are stipulated in
16 of the Regulations.

II. CRITERIA OF GRANTING ROOMS IN THE STUDENTS' HOSTELS

The University's students/PhD students shall be granted accommodation in DS prior to any


other applicants if they are in a difficult material situation and are non-residing students as
defined by the University's regulations on providing material aid.
The University's students/PhD students shall also be granted accommodation in DS prior to
any other applicants if they were orphaned by both parents or were brought up in a children's
home or have no permanent place of residence.
Single rooms shall be granted first to the University's students/PhD students diagnosed as
disabled persons or to the ill University's students/PhD students with medical recommendation
in the following order:
a) disabled persons who have the certificate of disability or are diagnosed as disabled persons
on the basis of other equivalent certificate
b) ill persons who have medical specialists' recommendation
c) ill persons who have other medical recommendation
Single rooms tailor-made for disabled, wheel-chaired persons are granted to those persons prior
to any other applicants.
Single rooms and studio flats are granted first to the following University's students/PhD
students:
students of the last year at bachelor's courses, master's courses and PhD courses
persons studying more than one subject in the University or persons studying at the
University and at other university/college simultaneously
persons residing in DS in prior academic years
Students/PhD students of other universities/colleges as well as other persons who are not
students may obtain rooms in DS after the rooms have been secured for the students fulfilling
the requirements provided in points 1-5 and there are still rooms available.

III.

GRANTING ROOMS IN THE STUDENTS' HOSTELS

The rooms in DS are granted on the basis of the written applications of the interested party or
competent University unit.
The rooms in DS shall be granted for a period no longer than from 1 October till 30 June.
Terms and procedures of submission and examination of the applications for a room in DS are
stipulated in the Schedule which is in the Appendix 1.

Terms of submission of applications for a room in DS examined by the deans and the rector in
first instance may be prolonged by the deans and the rector if this enables more effective rooms
allocation.
5. Standard application for a room in DS and the Schedule shall be prepared by the Department of
the Students' Matters.
6. The standard application and the Schedule may be updated and modified every year. This does
not involve the amendment of the Regulations. The update and modification of the standard
application and the Schedule shall be publicized in a way customarily accepted in the
University.
7. The University's students/PhD students who are single parents may obtain a double room. In
such a case they shall pay as for the second person.
8. Married student couples may apply for the rooms as stipulated in the Schedule for other
University's student/PhD student. A married student couple is a married couple if at least one
person is the University's student/PhD student.
9. According to the Schedule, the dean shall grant the rooms of all types to the Faculty's
student/PhD student, excluding the single rooms for wheel-chaired persons and single rooms
for persons diagnosed with disability or ill persons with medical recommendation.
10. The dean shall also grant rooms to the single parent student families and married student
couples as defined in point 7 and 8.
11. The rector shall grant rooms at their disposal in accordance with the Schedule.
12. The deans shall grant rooms at their disposal till 5 October of each academic year. After this
term all of the not granted rooms are to the rector's disposal and are granted systematically and
on condition there are free rooms available.
13. Skierowania (referrals) from the dean's and rector's disposal issued for persons applying for a
room from 1 October shall become invalid after 5 October. Skierowania (referrals) from the
rector's disposal issued after this date shall be valid for 3 days from the date defining the first
day of accommodation.
14. During Holidays there will be at least one DS open in every the Students Housing. Persons
willing to reside in DS during Holidays may obtain a room only in such a DS. During Holidays
rooms shall be granted by the manager of DS.
15. The dean and the rector respectively shall be entitled to not grant a room in DS to a person who
grossly violated the Regulations.
16. The manager of the Students Housing in agreement with the manager of DS or the Council of
Tenants shall have the right to lodge a justified application to the rector to ban the entry to DS
to the following persons:
a) persons evicted from DS on the basis of the violation of the Regulation,
b) visitors who are violating stipulations of 15 of the Regulations.
17. In case there is room deficiency in DS, the dean or the rector respectively shall be entitled to
decide on eviction of the student/PhD student who either is on holiday or repeats a year and
was not permitted to study in advance.
IV.

LODGING APPEALS

1. The student whose application has been refused by the dean shall be entitled to lodge an appeal
to the rector to cancel the deans decision. The student who is unsatisfied with the rectors
decision shall have the right to apply to rector to hear his/her application again.
2. The appeal shall be submitted within 14 days from the date of receipt of the decision issued by
authority of the first instance by the agency of the authority of the first instance. The date of
receipt of the decision shall also be considered the date of announcing the list of persons whom
rooms in DS have been granted.

3. The appeal shall include specific and well-grounded application.


V.

LOSS OF THE ROOM IN THE STUDENTS' HOSTELS

1. The tenant shall lose the room in DS before the agreed termination of accommodation in the
following cases:
a) the tenant shall not accommodate in DS within the term stipulated in 4 point 13defining
the accommodation start without providing earlier important reasons,
b) the tenant was expelled from the University on the basis of the legally valid decision of the
disciplinary commission
c) the tenants right to use the room in DS was suspended by the legally valid decision of the
disciplinary commission
d) the tenant's rights of a student/PhD student were suspended on the basis of 214 point 5
Ustawy Prawo o szkolnictwie wyszym (Law on Higher Education)
e) the tenant falls behind with the payment for the room in DS stipulated in 8 point 5
2. After hearing an application of the manager of the Students Housing who acts in accordance
with the manager of DS or the computer network administrator or after hearing an application
of the Council of Tenants the dean or the rector respectively shall be entitled to evict a tenant
who does not observe the provisions of the Regulations.
3. In case a tenant loses a room in a way defined in point 2 he/she shall be obliged to leave the
room in DS in the following terms:
a) the University's students/PhD students within 3 days from the date the decision on eviction
became final. If the decision on eviction was issued under the pains of an immediate
enforcement clause, the tenant shall be obliged to leave DS within 3 days from the date of
decision delivery.
b) other persons within 3 days from the date of the delivery of the decision on eviction.

VI. PAYMENTS

1. The payments for rooms of all types in an academic year shall be determined by the rector on
the basis of the calculation of maintenance cost of DS and adopted standards. The payments
shall be publicized in the form of Tables of payments in a way customarily accepted in the
University.
2. The payments stipulated in point 1. shall be formulated in the following Tables of payments:
a) Table of payments in the Students' Hostels of the University of Silesia, hereinafter referred
to as The Table. The Table shall specify payments for a single room, for a second person in a
double room occupied for at least 30 days as well as payments for accommodation of
persons visiting the tenants for no longer than 72 hours.
b) Table of holidays payments in the Students' Hostels of the University of Silesia for the
University's students/PhD students/post graduate course students, hereinafter referred to as
the Table of holidays payments. The Table of holidays payments shall specify payments for
rooms of all types between 1 July and 30 September of a given academic year. Payments in
the Table of holidays payments shall be binding if a person is accommodated in DS for at
least 14 days.
c) Table of 24-hours guest room payments for a room in the Students' Hostels of the University
of Silesia, hereinafter referred to as the Table of guest room payments. The Table of guest
room payments shall specify payments for guest rooms stipulated in 16.
3. Persons other than stipulated in point 2 b) shall pay for the room during Holidays according to

the Table. If they are accommodated for less than 30 days, they shall make payments according
to the Table of guest room payments.
4. The tenant who graduated from the University or was expelled from the University before 30
June shall be entitled to prolong their accommodation in DS on condition that they fulfill the
provision of 6 point 1 b). After the day of defending final dissertation the tenant shall pay as
other persons specified in the Table.
5. The tenant who refuses to change their accommodation or to accommodate other person shall
pay for the double room in accordance with the Table. It shall also be binding during the
Holidays.
6. Disabled student/PhD student or ill person with medical recommendation stipulated in 3 point
3 who did not obtain a single room and was permitted to accommodate individually in a double
room shall make payment in a reduced amount as for second person in accordance with the
Table.
7. With consideration to point 8 the tenant shall pay for the room in DS for the actual stay which
starts from the first day of referral validity.
8. With consideration to point 9 the payment for October shall be made in advance for the whole
month regardless of time of actual stay. This shall also be binding for every 30 first days of stay
in DS.
9. Should person accommodated in a guest room in October and awaiting the decision on granting
a room in DS obtain that room, he/she shall pay for the room in DS reduced by the amount of
payment made in accordance with the Table of guest room payments.
10. With consideration to point 8 the payment due for a given month shall be made till 28th of that
month. The statutory interests shall be paid for every day of delay in the payment.

VI.

DUE PAYMENTS AND EVICTION

1. Should the tenant not pay for a given month within the requested term, the manager of DS shall
deliver to the tenant the request for payment with the final term of payment till 15 th day of the
next month.
2. The tenant, who due to temporal financial difficulties or other important reasons over which
they had no control did not pay for the room in DS when due, may apply for extension of the
payment term.
3. The tenant shall apply for extension of the payment term to the rector and submit it to the
Department of Students' Matters no longer than till 10th day of the next month.
4. The application stipulated in point 3 shall include the dean's office's notes on the status of the
student/PhD student and amount of the material aid granted as well as the opinion of the
manager of DS and information on the amounts of due payments.
5. The manager of DS shall deliver a written termination of accommodation to the tenant who did
not make payment till 15th day of the next month and did not receive the rectors consent to
extend the payment term. Such a termination is effective within 3 days from the delivery date.
6. Should the tenant stipulated in point 5 not terminate their accommodation in DS within the
agreed term, the manager of DS shall terminate their accommodation in the presence of a
committee.
7. The tenant whose accommodation was terminated in the presence of a committee shall bear the
cost of cleaning up the room.
8. The termination of accommodation stipulated in the point 6 shall be made by a committee
appointed by the manager of DS. The manager of DS shall be presiding the committee. The
roommate of the evicted person, representative of the Council of Tenants or the Council of
Students' Hostels Housing Area shall participate in the committees work. Should there is no

representative of the Council of Tenants or the Council of Students' Hostels Housing Area,
other tenant of the Students' Hostels Housing Area may participate in the committees work.
9. The committee stipulated in point 8 shall make 3 copies of report of eviction. The copies of the
report of eviction shall be submitted to the evicted person and the Department of the Students
Matters and the dean should the evicted person be the University's student/PhD student.
Personal belongings of the evicted person shall be held in the managers of DS deposit for 2
months.
10. The evicted person shall be informed to collect personal belongings from the deposit within the
term stipulated in point 9. The University shall not be liable for the personal belongings not
collected from the deposit within the above term.
11. Should the tenant not have money for payment on the day of eviction and not be permitted by
the rector to extend the payment term, he/she is obliged in writing to pay the amount due and
interest within 14 days from the day of eviction. The manager of DS shall inform the dean, the
Department of Students' Matters and the Accounts Department about the evicted person's
liability.
12. Should the tenant not pay the amount due in the term stipulated in point 11, he/she may not
obtain a room in next academic years.

VIII. ACCOMMODATION IN THE STUDENTS' HOSTELS

1. The tenants move in DS in agreement with the manager of DS within the duty hours of the
University's administrative staff. Days and hours of moving in at the beginning of an academic
year shall be determined separately. Persons moving in in other terms are accommodated in the
guest rooms.
2. The tenants move in on the basis of the list of names or the individual refferal (skierowanie)
issued by the manager of the deans office or the manager of the Department of the Students
Matters.
3. To move in for a temporal stay in DS, a person shall submit the following:
ID
photo
ID, passport with a valid visitors visa, residence card in case of the students who are not
Polish citizens
confirmation of the payment stipulated in 7 point 8
4. The students/PhD students shall be registered within the list of tenants for the period of their
studies no longer than for 5 years. The other persons shall be registered within the list of
tenants for the period determined in the refferal (skierowanie).
5. During Holidays the tenants move in on the basis of a valid student's/PhD student's card or
valid certificate on the student's status or ID or passport or residence card in case of students
who are not Polish citizens.
6. When moving in a person shall receive the following:
a) a tenants card; during Holidays an entry card
b) a room equipment card which specifies the equipment in a given room
c) bedclothes
d) keys to the room
7. During Holidays the tenant's card shall be valid with a identity card only.

VIII a. ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE DECISION ON GRANTING A ROOM

When the tenants move in the manager of DS shall orally inform the student/PhD student on
the rector's or dean's decision on granting a room on the stipulation of point 4.
To confirm the announcement stipulated in point 1 a written Report on oral decision
announcement shall be made and signed by the manager of DS and the student/PhD student. A
form of Report on oral decision announcement is the Appendix 2 to the Regulations.
Signed original version of the Report shall be sent to the Department of the Students' Matters
if the decision concerns the rooms at the rector's disposal and to the dean's offices if the
decision concerns the rooms at the dean's disposal. The Reports shall be enclosed to the records
connected with issuing decisions on grating rooms in DS. A copy of the Report shall be given
to the student/PhD student.
Oral announcement of the decisions stipulated in point 1 shall be made on the basis of a written
power of attorney issued by the rector or the dean to the manager of DS. The power of attorney
may also be given to the manager of the Students' Housing in Cieszyn as well as to the
administration staff of the Students' Housing in Cieszyn

IX. TERMINATION OF ACCOMMODATION

1.

In order to terminate the accommodation in DS the tenant shall comply with the following
provisions:
a) the tenant shall return the DS equipment and bedclothes to the storehouse
b) the tenant shall collect from the manager of DS the clearance slip (karta obiegowa). The
clearance slip (karta obiegowa) shall be signed by authorized personnel in the bedclothes
storehouse and DS porter. In case the roommate of the person terminating the
accommodation stays in DS, they shall also sign the clearance slip (karta obiegowa) stating
therefore they have no objections to the room condition
c) the tenant shall present the manager of DS with the cleaned room
d) the tenant return the clearance slip (karta obiegowa) to the manager of DS, present the
confirmation of payments for the room and leave the ID/passport/residence card in case of
termination of temporal registration.
2. The tenant of a given room in DS shall be individually or jointly liable for any damage or
defects in the room equipment.
3. The tenants shall pay for the removal of any damage to the room in DS which have not been
reported earlier to be repaired.

X. DUTIES OF THE DEAN'S OFFICES AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE


STUDENTS' HOSTELS

1.

The deans offices/ PhD offices shall be obliged to the following:


a) submit to the appropriate managers of DS list of names and individual referrals
(skierowania) of persons whom the rooms were granted by the deans immediately after the

decisions on grating the rooms have been made. Copy of such a list shall be also submitted
to the Department of Students Matters.
b) immediately and systematically inform the managers of DS on:
granting the housing scholarship (stypendium mieszkaniowe) to the student/PhD student and
loss of thereof
expelling the student/PhD student from the University
graduation
loss of a room as stipulated in 6 point 2
any other changes of the students/PhD students status
2. The administration of the Students Hostels shall be obliged to the following:
a) provide all tenants with conditions appropriate for work and leisure
b) keep rooms and other DS premises of general use clean and in order
c) make current repairs of equipment
d) provide continuous access to running water, except for periods for necessary maintenance of
installation
e) provide the tenants with fresh bedclothes at least every 4 weeks
f) immediately inform in writing the respective deans offices on date of moving in and
moving out if moving in/moving out takes place from 1 October till 30 June.
3. The administration of the Students Hostels shall also be obliged to inform the tenants on
planned renovations on the DS premises and on stock-taking 7 days before date of such
renovations/stock-taking.

XI. RIGHTS OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF

The manager of DS, work and hygiene and firefighting inspectors, the Council of Tenants shall
be entitled to control DS premises. In case of damage or violation of the Regulations, they shall
write a report and apply to impose disciplinary punishment. The firefighting inspectors shall be
imposed fines in case of violation of the provisions of the firefighting regulations.
The representatives of the University authorities, manager of DS, work and hygiene and
firefighting inspectors shall have the right to enter the room of a tenant if they are not present
only on condition that a member of the Council of Tenants or other tenant of DS is present.
The DS conservator, the porter and persons stipulated in point 1 shall have the right to enter the
room of a tenant if they are not present in order to remove reported damage or sudden
breakdown. In that case the presence of a member of the Council of Tenants or other tenant of
DS shall not be required.

XII. RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF THE TENANTS

The tenant shall be entitled to:


a) enter and leave DS freely,
b) using all premises of general use in DS,
c) change of the bedclothes every 4 weeks,
d) free of charge use TV, radio sets and household appliances that are the property of DS,

e) use the Universitys computer network in accordance with provisions of separate


regulations,
f) organize closed undertakings in the premises of general use after receiving the approval of
the manager of DS and the Council of Tenants,
g) respect their privacy in a granted room,
h) choose the roommate if the room capacity allows
The tenant is obliged to:
a) respect other persons safety, health, intimacy, dignity and property and observe regulations
on animals protection,
b) behave properly to enable work and leisure to the other tenants,
c) use the Universitys property with proper care and according to its destination,
d) pay for the accommodation on time,
e) maintain order and cleanliness in the occupied room and in the premises of general use,
f) comply with work and hygiene provisions and firefighting regulations as well as observe the
service instructions of gas and electric equipment,
g) observe the dead hours from 11 p.m. till 6 a.m. next day,
h) enable access to the room to the stock-taking committee within presence of the manager of
DS,
i) turn keys to the room to the porter at any leave,
j) present the tenants card or the entry card on each demand from administration of DS, porter
(also when taking the room keys) and to the security service in case of order violation,
k) inform the manager of DS or other employee of DS or the Students Housing about theft,
burglary, breakdown of devices and any case of other tenants illness or accident requiring
medical aid or long-term absence of a roommate,
l) inform about any defect or damage of the room equipment or faulty equipment by reporting
it to the Book of Repairs to be found at the porters lodge. Should they be not reported, the
tenant shall bear the cost of repairs stipulated in 10 point 2 and 3,
m) change the accommodation, excluding June, and move to other room or choose other
roommate within 7 days from the day the roommate terminated their accommodation.
Should the person accommodated in a double room refuse to move to other room one or choose
roommate as stipulated in point 2 m), they shall pay for the double room in the amount
determined in the Table. The payment for a double room is binding from the 8 th day of
termination of others tenant accommodation.
Should the room occupied by a tenant need renovation, the tenant shall be obliged to move in to
other room within 7 days they have been informed about the renovation.
The tenant shall be financially liable for the Universitys property listed in the room equipment
card and for bedclothes.
The tenant shall immediately on the day of moving in inform the manager of DS on any
discrepancies between the actual room equipment and the card.
The tenant shall be entitled to keep pets within meaning of regulation on animals protection on
condition that their roommate accepts it and it neither violates the tenants health and safety nor
order and sanitary regulations. The tenant shall be obliged to present to the manager of DS the
valid certificate issued by a vet and including the date of a rabies vaccination.
The manager of DS shall have the right to refuse to keep pets in case of violation of the
provisions stipulated in point 7.

XIII. BANS

At the DS and the Students Housing premises it is prohibited to:

b) bring, produce, sell and drink alcoholic drinks of 0.5 % and more alcohol, excluding legally
operating restaurants/clubs or on the basis of permission issued in relation with mass events,
or bring, produce, sell and take any illegal drugs,
c) gamble,
d) smoke in the rooms and other premises, except for the smoking area,
e) violate public order,
f) store any flammable gases or liquids,
g) use in the rooms electric ovens, heaters, kettles ,
h) move the fire extinguishers to places other than designated,
i) remove or cover information tables, especially evacuation signs, switches and valves,
j) run a business without a written consent of the University,
k) use the computer network or computer equipment which is the property of the University to
break the law or violate custom. The regulations on the Universitys computer network shall
be applied respectively.
2. A person under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs who is not a tenant of a given DS shall
not be allowed to enter DS.
3. Violation of public order in the premises of the Students Housing:
a) a tenant violating public order in the Student Housing shall present the security staff the
tenants card or other document with a photo for certifying the identity,
b) should the tenant not have such a document, they shall be obliged to go with the security
staff to the porters lodge of DS they are accommodated. The porter shall certify the tenants
identity,
c) should the tenant violate public order despite requests from administrative staff or porter or
representatives of the Council of Tenants or the Council of the Students' Housing, they may
be held in detention at the reception desk by the security staff until the police arrive.

7.

The tenants shall be entitled to be visited in their rooms every day from 8 a.m. till 11 p.m. only
if they are present and they consent to a visit and on the following conditions:
a) visiting persons shall leave at the porters lodge a document with a photo certifying identity.
The document shall be returned to the visitor before leaving DS. Other tenants may leave
their tenants card.
b) From 1 October till 30 June the Council of Tenants shall be entitled to allow visits at DS
after 11 p.m.. All formalities connected with extending the visits provided in the regulations
of the Council of Tenants shall be rights and duties of the Council of Tenants.
The Council of Tenants shall inform the porter before 11 p.m. about persons who have been
allowed to extend their visits. The porter shall take down the names and addresses of such
persons in the Record of Visits.
The Council of Tenants shall have the right to allow to extend the visit of the tenants guests for
period no longer than 72 hours.
A visitor who was allowed to extend their visit to 72 hours according to point 3 shall pay for
every 24 hours of stay according to the payments determined in the Table.
Every 24 hour of the visitors stay over 72 hours shall be paid according to the Table of guest
room payments.
In case the Council of Tenants has not been elected, the list of visitors staying in DS after 11
p.m. shall be made by the porter and supervised by the manager of DS.
During Holidays the visitors shall not be entitled to stay in DS after 11 p.m. They shall be
allowed to stay in DS only when renting a room and making the payment according to the
Table of guest room payments.

GUEST ROOMS, RULES OF ACCOMMODATION AND PAYMENTS

1.

With accordance to 2 point 9 the rooms not occupied by the students may be periodically
rented as guest rooms by individuals or organized groups.
2. 24-hours of the guest rent shall start at 2 p.m. and finishes at 12.00 next day.
3. The rooms are equipped with bedclothes and are cleaned up after the guests have left them.
4. The amount of guest payments for renting the guest rooms shall be determined in the Table of
guest room payments.
5. The guest rooms shall be booked by the Department of the Students Matters or directly by the
manager DS or the Students' Housing or the porter's lodge in DS. The Department of the
Students Matters, the manager of DS, the manager of the Students' Housing and porter shall
inform each other on terms and number of the booked rooms.
6. The reservation shall be cancelled no later than 3 days before accommodation in case of
individuals and no later than 7 days in case of groups. The cancellation of reservation shall be
submitted to the Universitys entity that booked the room.
7. Should the reservation be not cancelled in the term stipulated in point 6, the person booking the
room in DS shall bear the cost of occupying the booked room for first 24 hours according to the
Table guest room payments, column III. The cost shall also be borne if the guests were to pay
for the rooms from their own means.
8. The accommodation in the guest rooms is organized on the basis of the referral skierowanie
issued by the Department of the Students Matters or on the basis of earlier reservation agreed
with the manager of DS or the Students' Housing or at the reception desk in DS.
9. Should a person rent a shared room, they shall make payment in the amount of appropriate
price for the shared room.
10. In case of the accommodation of the guests is paid by the University, an application for a room
in DS shall include information on the financial means to cover the cost of the accommodation.
The application shall include either approval of the person authorized to decide on the abovementioned financial means or an approved estimate.
11. The payment for guest room may be changed by the rector on the basis of a well-grounded
application in writing. The application shall be submitted to the Department of the Students
Matters.
12. The manager of DS may decrease the payment, however no more than 30 %, for persons
paying according to the column III of the Table of guest room payments in one of the following
cases:
a) high number of rooms available
b) bigger groups booking the rooms
c) decreased standard of services - for the whole period in which the standard of services was
decrease
13. The discounts stipulated in point 12 do not add up.
14. At the end of a month, the manager of DS shall submit to the Department of the Students
Matters written information on the number, bases and rates of the discounts defined in point 12
granted.
15. A person evicted from DS with accordance to 6 point 2 or 4 point 16 b cannot be
accommodated in a guest room. A person violating the Regulations may lose the right to use a
guest room.

The rooms of all types in DS may be rented to third parties on the basis of the separate agreements
under civil law.
