Report of Uniforms Camp

On 14th August to 15th August 2015, our school SJKC Pei Yang had organized 2
days 1 night Uniforms Camp which involved three uniforms, there were Girls Scouts,
Boys Scouts and St. John. Uniform that was established in the school was to instill
teamwork and enhance their discipline amongst their teammate. The camp was
organized to foster a spirit of tolerance, built self-discipline, appreciate and love towards
our nature. Besides, it was able to enhance their knowledge and apply it in their life.
Spaced out within a day and an overnight, students enjoy a newfound
independence away from home in close company of classmates and teachers. Staying
away from home brings a variety of new challenges. Therefore, the main emphasis at
the camp is to have students living together with other students in a healthy and
stimulating environment. They experience living out in tents, spend quality time with
friends and teachers, and enjoy the simple camp pleasures within the safe environs of
the school. Its like a small community where students adjust to new routines and learn
to be emotionally independent.
First of all, on the first day of the camp that was 14 th August 2015, students
gathered at 7.00am at the school hall according to their team mate. They were divided
into 12 groups and they were three uniform mixed together in a group. This is to
enhance their relationship with each other and share their experience amongst three
uniforms. Then, Mr. Kenny Yap as guided teacher gave them some speech and gave
instructions toward the station games. There were 6 stations in the stations game, there
were flying fox, outstation survival (cooking), create flags and slogan for their team, foot
drills, knot and first aid.
I was assigned to be the facilitator in the station of creates teams flags and
slogan. Each time, two groups by two groups would come to my station and I gave them
the instructions on the activity. They were given one hour to create and design their own
teams flags and think of their teams slogan. Besides, they were required to rehearse
on their performance for camping fire at night. They choose their own team performance
for example singing song, dancing, dramatization, singing song with sign language

together and etc. The aimed for the activities in this station was to enhance their
creativity and built their confidence in the performance. The most important was it instill
moral value of cooperation between their teammates, they knew that they have to work
together to produce something good.
Moreover, for the station of flying fox, every student has the opportunity to take
part in the flying fox. School have hired one group of professional coach to guide
children on playing the flying fox, they took care of their safety. It was a good activity to
let students to experience and enhance their braveness in flying fox. Besides, students
also enjoyed cooking in the outstation survival. The aimed of this station was to let
students know how to survive although they were at outside or in the jungle. They were
learned to cook in this station, they were given eggs, canned foods, vegetables and
noodles to cook. At the end, they could learn how to cook with the guidance of facilitator.
Besides, activities such like foot drills, first aids and knots were the basic
principles that need to be learned by uniforms students. Students had learned about
the techniques of all of the skills. During the activities, students were behaved and they
were in good discipline. For example, the activity of first aids were learned to enable
students to help peoples who got injury next time, so that they knew how to handle
emergency case. It could be apply in their life.
Last but not least, I am very happy and thanks to the school that gave me the
opportunity to take part as a station facilitator. I had enjoyed the happiest moments with
my students in the camp and our relationships with each other were more closely now. I
also gained the experience to be a facilitator and know the way to guide students in
every activity and I believe that it will be useful in my future teaching life.
