THE AVENGER

By Patrick Conmann

300 centuries ago dragons coexisted with the humans and lived in harmony. Whenever it was time for
Fellowship, the humans would make them a feast and treated them like gods. The humans served them and did
everything the dragons willed.
The dragons never did visit the humans in their original form. They knew for sure that this would only scare the
simple-minded humans. They would only come and visit when the moon turns red the Scarlet Season. The Scarlet
Season comes only every 7 months and lasted three days and 4 nights. It is the only time their powers are its fullest
to the point that they could even hide their true form. Whenever they would exceed that given time, their teeth would
show and slowly their true form can no longer be kept hidden.
Centuries later, a great plague ruled over the land causing deaths of hundreds of humans. With no one else to
blame, they placed the entire fault on the dragons. They believed that it was because some of their kind crossed the
line and made love to one of their own producing a halfer half human and half dragon. They believed that it were
the halfers that brought the disease to the humans. Frightened that more may catch the disease, they set up a trap
to finish all the dragons that had once lived with alongside them.
They put up a feast and welcomed the dragons like usual. As the dragons feasted, one by one, they weakened
and fell to the ground. Peppermint was added to their meal. Just a bite of peppermint could weaken any dragon and
cause them harm. And once they were weakened, all of them struck the dragons at once ending their race once and
for all. When they were done with the dragons, they gathered all the halfers and killed them.
High in the mountains, deep into the woods, an egg rustled about. Little by little the egg cracked. Out came a
baby blue dragon with eyes red as deep as the blood that spilled from its ancestors. Even though it has just hatched
from its sanctuary, it instinctively knew who its enemy was the humans.
The baby blue dragon was a rare type for it was the child of the two greatest dragonaires. A dragonaire is a
dragon that has never been defeated in battle of either brute strength or wits. In short, the best there is in their kind.

Having been borne from such great lineage, the baby blue dragon has enough power to support itself and transform in
its human form, and thus able to hide his true form.
Losing its scales, tail, and wings, it headed for the village that destroyed his kind.

Chapter One
Kraisser helped set up the village for the coming feast the Cerulean Feast. The feast was held in
commemoration of the banishment of such wicked beasts from their home. The Elders, those who set the rules in the
village, always told him of stories about the great warriors of the ancient. They told him that one who was named
Micah Resianteau slaughtered the two great beasts which brought an end to the great plague over causing hundreds
of deaths.
Kraisser would always intently listen to what the Elders told in their stories for there was an unspoken rule in
that village. No one shall defy the Elders, for the Elders are the guide to the chosen path of the gods.
