1. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES BEING ADDRESSED BY THE PROJECT:

To design and construct a head movement controlled device switching system for
physically challenged

The user can wear this device to head and with the simple head movements he can
request the basic needs like water, food or medicine by using MEMS (Micro ElectroMechanical Systems) technology.

User can also control the electrical devices like light; fan etc with the help of head
movements.

Using this device the difficulties for the care taker person are also reduced.

2. SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

Touch screen interfacing can be applied in our daily life in our practical appliances.

It can be installed in houses, industries, poultry etc.

Highly reliable for illiterates and old people who have difficulty in remembering long
strings of letter or numbers.

To provide unique pictorial login and password.

3. PROJECT BACKGROUND AND LITERATURE REVIEW:

This project makes use of a Relay for switching the devices, APR-9600 voice chip
for audio announcements and the Micro controller, which is programmed, with the
help of embedded C instructions. This microcontroller is capable of communicating
with transmitter and receiver modules so as to transmit the data in wireless mode. The
MEMS based sensor(Accelerometer) detects the tilt and provides the information to
the microcontroller (on board computer) and the controller judges whether the
instruction is right movement or left movement instruction and controls the device
operation respectively. The playback option for voice announcement is managed by
APR-9600 which samples the incoming voice signals and stores them in its
nonvolatile flash memory cells. The stored recording can be played anytime by the
user just clicking on the button whenever required.
4.

CHALLENGES:

Identification of pictures which can be easily recognized by villagers or old people.

Solution to the situation if one forgets the password.

To determine the number of unique login names and passwords that can be created
using pictorial interface.

Articulate the complementing pictorial techniques used by the subjects.
