The adage “last but not the least” was proved right

on 18th &19th September. NEXUS’09, a Tech fest by


EEE Department organization, EETA (Electrical &
Electronic Technical Association) was acclaimed by
everyone.
NEXUS’09 was aimed to bring the best brains of
Engineering world together. More than 900 colleges
were invited from all over South India.
It’s Innovative and bizarre events gathered
everybody’s attention and set a new record of
maximum no. of participants.
On the first day of NEXUS’09 Mr. M.R. Ranganathan,
Chairman Nihon Technology and ABK AOTS DOSOKAI
Tamil Nadu Centre inaugurated the ceremony. He
enlightened the true meaning of Engineering and
summarized his view by saying “Engineering is not
only about simplifying the complex things but also
about keeping things simple”
For the flagging off NEXUS’09 Mr. Arun Kumar, Pro-
Chancellor, Dr. M.G.R. University was present.
Inauguration was followed by the events of day 1
• Papyrus at conference hall: 32 preselected
papers of different fields of Engineering were
presented at the venue. The judges included the
HOD of EEE Department Mr.S.Sathyanarayana,
HOD of E.C.E Department Uma Rajaram, N.M.
Jothi Swaroopan of Saveetha University.
Impromptu
This event was aimed at improvising the situation,
but it really tested the patience of participants.
Humor was at its acme in the seminar hall and
participants were struggling to cope up with the
acrimony of judges.
I4F (Idea for future)
Originated by the idea of a second year student, this
event attracted entrepreneurs from different fields of
engineering.
FACE OFF
CHEERING INDIA!!!! This theme arouses the hidden
talent of engineers and attracted a huge audience…

Xplore in
This proved to be the bonanza. 140 teams have
participated in this event, making it the most
successful one. To collect 50 items within half an
hour was not at all an easy task but we were boggled
by the result. 43 items were collected by the winning
team.
Boyz not allowed
First time in the history of Dr.M.G.R. University, an
event only for girls was held. The name itself gave
the surety of huge success.

This marked the end of DAY 1.


DAY 2 started with the event, which has gathered the
attention of mostly the outstation students.
IDP (Industrial Defined Problem)
Three predefined Industrial problem were given to
the participants, each participant presented a
solution for one. The judges for the event were
Mr.Loganathan,F-Level Scientist, DRDO and
Mr.Vallem Ramesh, Director, Tekstrides . The
designation of the judges made it the most
significant one.

An event, common in almost all the tech fest but has


still never lost its importance is none other than Quiz
QUIZ
As expected, more than 70 teams have participated
in this event.
It infused indomitable spirits among our college
students. We witnessed a tough battle of wits.

Engineering is all about practicals, so to abet the real


EEE Engineers and to acquaint them with their real
talent, we had
Shoot em up
We were aghast and experienced a tough bout. It
was cantankerous.

Taste of India
Contrary to its name, the event was a fashion show
with Indian Ethnic wear as the theme. It was also the
first time that such a show formed a part of a
symposium and the response was unprecedented.
ON THE EDGE
This dance competition saw participation from boys
and girls alike all of whom displayed a gamut of
dance forms. The audience was enthralled seeing the
performers and were grooving to the music too.
VALEDICTORY
To appreciate the podium holders we had Mr. C.
Pughazendi Sugumaran, Treasurer of IET Chennai
Network. He gave an eye opening speech to bring
out the innate skills inside us.
With the prize distribution the curtains for NEXUS 09
came down but not before inspiring us to stage a
comeback……………………….
