23. The VFD of frame size R7 & R8 has separate cabling pedestal hence it is possible to connect
cabling before drive installation.
24. Drives free standing units(R7 & R8) has wheels under the unit hence easy to pull.
25. Motor thermistor input both PT100 and PTC available.
26. The VFD is capable for automatic noise reduction by increasing the switching frequency when load
decreases.
27. The cooling fan is on-off controlled and has a life span of about 60,000 operating hour.
28. The Automatic Start feature of the ACS 550 outperforms the flying start and ramp start features
normally found in frequency converters. Because ACS 550 can detect the state of the motor within a few
milliseconds, starting is immediate under all conditions. There is no restart delay. The starting of turbine
pumps or wind milling fans is easy.
29. Flux Optimization of the ACS 550 reduces the loss in the motor, by increasing the switching frequency
during partial loads, thereby making the output wave nearly sinusoidal.
30. There are three critical speed available for application where it is necessary to avoid certain motor
speed or speed band due to resonance problem. The ACS550 make it possible to set up 3 different speed

or speed bands which will be avoided during operation. Each critical speed setting allows the user to
set a low and high speed limit. If the speed reference signal requires the ACS 550 to operate within
this
Speed range the Critical Speeds function will keep the ACS 550 operating at the low (or high) limit until
The reference is out of the critical speed range. The motor is accelerated/decelerated through the
Critical speed band according to the acceleration or deceleration ramp.
31. When DC Magnetizing is activated the ACS 550 automatically magnetises the motor before the start.
This feature guarantees the highest possible breakaway torque, even 200 % of motor nominal torque.
By adjusting the premagnetising time, it is possible to fix the motor start with a mechanical brake
release, for example. The Automatic Start feature and DC Magnetizing cannot be activated at the same
time.
32. In the ACS 550 it is possible to predefine 7 constant speeds. Constant speeds are selected with digital
inputs. Constant speed activation overrides the external speed reference.
33. Accurate Speed Control: The static speed control error is typically + 0.1% to + 0.5 % of motor nominal
speed,which satisfies most industrial applications.
The dynamic speed control error is typically + 0.4 %sec. at

100 % load torque step without a pulse

encoder or tachogenerator.
Accurate Torque Control: The ACS 550 can perform precise torque control without any speed feedback
from the motor shaft. With torque rise time less than 5 ms at 100 % torque reference step compared to
over 100 milliseconds in frequency converters using sensorless flux vector control, the ACS 550 is
unbeatable.
By applying a torque reference instead of a speed reference, the ACS 550 will maintain a specific
motor torque value; the speed will adjust automatically to maintain the required torque.
34. During the motor identification run the ACS 550 speed controller is automatically tuned. However, it is
possible to manually adjust the controller gain, integration time and derivation time, or let the ACS 550
perform a separate speed controller Autotune Run. In Autotune Run, the motor is driven through a
series of movements and the speed controller is tuned based on the load and inertia of the motor and the
machine.
35. The VFD has the power loss ride through function, it can sustain in case of power or phase loss for short
Duration of time.

36. PID signals in Engineering units (m3/hr, bar, Pa etc)

Scaling for PID signals (e.g. k*sqrt(dp)) & non-linear
Enables the use Flow Calculation from dp-measurement
PID can perform math functions for 2 analog inputs such as high/low select, square root, etc.
36. The VFD has application macros which helps in easy commissioning. Macro for pump and fan control is
available. ACH550 has 14 HVAC specific application macros for specific HVAC applications like AHU,
chiller, etc. Also the software is tailor made for HVAC.
37. Two zone control i.e, temperature and pressure control is possible.
38. Parameter copying, It is possible to upload parameters from one VFD into the non-volatile memory
within the keypad and download the parameters into other VFDs
39. Cascade controller to precisely control the pressure to meet system demand by deciding how many
pumps are required to run and at what speed they should be running.
40. Two modes of control should be available: Cascade control for one VFD and fixed speed support pumps
and Master Slave for all variable speed pumps.
41. Rotation of duty pump on an hours run basis for even year.
42. Sleep Mode the VFD shall detect situations with low or no flow and instead of continuous operation it
boosts the system pressure and then stops to save energy. The drive will start automatically when the
pressure falls below the lower set point.
43. Dry Pump and End of curve protection when the pump runs without creating the desired pressure i.e.
when a well runs dry or a pipe leaks, the VFD will stop the pump or perform another programmed action
i.e. raise an alarm .
44. Real time display of pressure and flow on VFD keypad.
45. Lock function to prevent unauthorized adjustment of parameter setting.
46. Full galvanic isolation with suitable potential separation from the power sources to ensure compliance
with the PELV requirements of EN 50178.
47. The VFD compliance with the following standard:
240V products UL,cUL,CSA and CE
480V products UL,cUL,CSA and CE
600V products UL,cUL,CSA
