from the course.

1. Select a country from the IMD World Competitiveness database to
study in particular depth. To select a country, go to the website below:

2. Select a firm from the list posted in the classroom, you believe will
gain competitive advantage by investing directly into the country you
selected.
3. Using data from IMD World Competitiveness Online database,
analyze the target countrys institutional environment.
4. Based on independent research, comprehensively evaluate the firms
industry context, products, markets, competitiveness/competitors, and
performance-to-date.
5. Develop and justify a set of recommendations, the firm can adopt for
managing the identified institutional challenges.
Justification requires adducing compelling reasons why the
recommendations will lead to successful entry or expansion of current
business operations in the selected country.

Note that this project involves (a) analysis of a firms products (b) its
industry context (c) a country it can expand to or expand its current
operations there, (d) the institutional challenges it must manage for
successful entry (e) a set of recommendations for dealing with the
institutional challenges and (f) compelling rationale for the
recommendations.
The requirements for the term paper project for this class are designed to
achieve the following objectives:
