Culture imperiled or Enriched?

Starting with the reaction of obscured Frenchman with a group full of anger against
globalization particularly American threat to French culture, Bhagwatti portrait the feeling of
native French people about globalization and, its expected impacts on their culture and identity.
The potential threat to native language is not just because of economic globalization but among
the considerable cause of this is dominance of English-speaking countries in recent centuries.
The British Empire leaves marks of its language as well as culture on it colonies same the case is
with United States but because United States has been colony of British and the major share of
its people are immigrants around the globe, its own identity is mixture of different cultures.
How nations tend to preserve their culture Bhagwatti explain the situation of European
countries, Bollywood Films were allowed in European cinemas but levied taxes and subsidize
their local films to compete and help preserving indigenous culture and protecting local film
industry by quota system. Eventually it comes to technological age when access to any film was
so easy one can buy DVD or access through internet, such barriers to preserve indigenous culture
wasnt useful as Bhagwatti concludes Indigenous people have to confront the fact that old yields
to the new, only selective nurturing cultural artifact can be preserved fossilization of all
traditional attitudes and values is impractical.
The view of an anthropologist and indigenous activist versus an economist basically
oppose and support globalization on which we can argue.
In this modern age of technology we can only argue about identities but infact with the
passage of time identity of one generation become past for present generation and only few value
are left with present people. Globalization change the adaptable people, an economist tends
toward growth and its sustainability. Globalization has positive and negative aspects as it is not
easy to compete with global forces for emerging markets which may leads to negative outcomes
for certain economy having less competency and even less protective policies for local
businesses and culture as well.
United States is a blend of many culture is the market leader and has impact on many
other cultures tends toward growth. The secret of success of United States is the adaptability of
good and abandoning the value which keep them limited in term of growth and betterment. Now

they are in position to make other world to follow them. In this age of globalization with
technology at its boom indigenous culture with norm which kept its nation in limited boundaries
of growth are on the verge of default because in this global world survival is the first priority of
any nation so in order to survive and compete the global forces culture is not the first priority for
majority.
In case of Pakistan we have blend of different culture. In the name of Religion we laid the
foundation stone of this country so there are some limitations on us being Muslims which are
now part of our Culture but on the same time we do have different culture in different ethnic
regions but to grow together we adopt good of others and eliminate bad of indigenous culture at
least in metropolitans of Pakistan so it enriches Pakistani Culture and with passage of time it will
became culture of whole country. People belonging to almost every culture wear pants which are
actually not the part of even Islamic culture or any of the culture prevails across the country but
adopted from English culture not because they Rule on us but because now people feel more
comfortable and make this a symbol of discipline and uniformity. In villages of Punjab mustache
is a part of Punjabi Culture, we observe now it is followed as fashion rather than culture in most
of emerging cities of Punjab people modified their culture at their ease. Central argument of the
debate is cultural is enriched with globalization and its evolution is preserved in literature as
well.
