PRESENTATION
Apiculture is the raising and caring of
honeybees.It involves scientific management
of bees in beehives to harvest various
products.
Activity 1 Teacher asks students to answer
the questions with the help of textbook.
Name the honeybee widely used for
apiculture? Where should we keep beehives?
Activity 2 teacher shows figure of
implements and ask to name them.
Conclusion
Apis mellifera is widely used, yields 40-50kg
of honey.Apis dorsata yield 15-50 kg of
honey.Apis cerana indica yields 2-3 kg of
honey.Implements are hive tool,smoke
can, beehive mask made of fine net.Beehive
should be kept away from direct
sunlight,ensure easy and accessible bee
pasturage and other requirements of bee
colony including source of water and
protection from predators and pests.The
most popular beehives used to rear Indian
