eMortar FC200

constructive solutions

A shrinkage controlled, fluid microconcrete for CP system installation and

structural repair
Uses

Properties

eMortar FC200 is suitable for mass infill to structural repairs

in all types of loadbearing situations where electrochemical
compatibilities need to be considered. Typical applications
would include, but not be limited to, the following:

The following typical results were obtained at a

water:powder ratio of 0.12.
Test method
Fresh wet density
Drying shrinkage to ASTM

Repairs where CP ground bed systems are in use.

Repairs to structures and installations suffering from
major loss of section.
Repairs and CP overlay system installation.

Electrical resistivity (BS

1377: Pt. 3 @ 28 days)
Chloride content (BS 812 )

Repairs requiring high fluidity e.g. heavily congested

steel or repairs into re-entrant angles/concealed voids
and where electrical resistivity is a factor.

Advantages
eMortar FC200, in addition to controlled electrical resistivity,
features Dimensional Stability Technology (DST) - a new
materials technology which controls the rate of drying
shrinkage such that, when used correctly :
i. The dimensions of the installation/repair remain stable;
and thus
ii. Eliminating structure failure, due to installation shrinkage
cracking.
iii. Ensures even current distribution when used with CP
systems as cracking is eliminated.

Design criteria
Attention to the basic design criteria given below should
ensure that the full benefits of DST technology are gained in
use:

This in turn leads to a series of associated benefits:

Cost effective - shrinkage control enables installation
and repairs completed right first time.

High alkali reserve - provides extended resistance to

acidification if CP control systems fail.

(i) eMortar FC200 is designed for large volume installations,

typically in excess of 50 mm deep. The product can be
applied in sections generally between 50 and 200 mm thick,
smaller or greater thicknesses may be achievable,
depending upon repair configuration and location together
with the volume of reinforcing steel. Consult the local Fosroc
office for more information.

Compatibility - aligns performance closer than ever

before, to that of host concrete.

(ii) When used as a CP overlay, the application thickness

should not be less than 25mm.

User friendly - specifically developed to provide an

easyto-apply product, suitable for local conditions.

(iii) Water addition = 2.4 litres per 20 kg bag Under no

circumstances should part bags be used or additional water
be employed. Either of these two actions will adversely
affect material performance, automatically

Enhanced durability - works in tandem with controlled

resistivity and DST to prolong the effective working life of
the CP system.

Description
eMortar FC200 is supplied as a ready to use blend of dry
powders and selected aggregates, which requires only the
addition of clean water to produce a highly consistent, fluid
microconcrete suitable for all electrochemical system
installation and structural repairs.

Limitations

Additional Information

eMortar FC200 should not be used when the ambient

temperature is below 50C and falling.

Fosroc manufactures a wide range of complementary

products which include:

eMortar FC200 should not be part mixed, nor part bags

used.

Waterproofing membranes & waterstops

Joint sealants & filler boards

eMortar FC200 should not be exposed to running water

either during application or prior to final set.

Cementitious & epoxy grouts

Water ponding is not recommended for curing.

Specialised flooring materials.

Storage

Fosroc additionally offers a comprehensive package of

products specifically designed for the repair and
refurbishment of damaged concrete. Fosrocs Systematic
Approach to concrete repair features the following:

Shelf life
eMortar FC200 has a shelf life of 12 months if kept in a dry
environment, in its original packing. If stored in conditions of
high temperature and/or humidity, the shelf life may be
reduced to as little as 4 months.

Hand-placed repair mortars

Spray grade repair mortars
Fluid micro-concretes

Precautions

Chemically resistant epoxy mortars

Health and safety

Anti-carbonation/anti-chloride protective coatings

eMortar FC200 contains cement powders which, when

mixed with water or upon becoming damp, release alkalis
which can be harmful to the skin.

Chemical and abrasion resistant coatings

For further information on any of the above, please consult
your local Fosroc office - as below.

During use, avoid inhalation of the dust and contact with the
skin or eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing eye
protection, gloves and respiratory equipment (particularly in
confined spaces).
The use of barrier creams to provide additional skin
protection is also advised. In case of contact with the skin,
rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse thoroughly
with soap and water.
