A MUSICAL DREAM

The room becomes a stage and pieces of furniture become musical instruments.
Here are the chairs playing the violin and the armchairs are the violoncello. The table is
the piano and the wardrobe is the contrabass, the parfume bottles on the dressing table are
flutes.
Look there! The night-table looks like a drum, a pencil and a fountain-pen left on it look
like its sticks. There are also two lids to play the parts of cymbals.
The pictures on the walls are balancing like harps. And the lamp? Its two branches seems
to be a man`s arms and the bulbs his hands.
Of course, the lamp is the conductor and the tune is very bright.

(Greek Mythology)
N o w Z e u s w a s n o t y e t p l e a s e d . H e t h ought and thought how he
could take away the gift of fire from men. But an Immortal gave them this gift and no
Immortal took it away. At last, Zeus thought of a plan. He gave the mortals a gift, a gift that
they accepted it but brought them only evil and suffering.
He sent for Hephaestus again and said to him:
I want you to make a thing for me a beautiful thing. It must be very beautiful and
good and it must be evil too.
So, Hephaestus made a thing of love and hate that was beautiful and ugly at the same
time. When he finished it, he brought it to Zeus.
It will be the First Woman, said Zeus. He breathed upon her and it lived and looked
around with wonder.
All the Immortals looked at the First Woman and admired her beauty. And she was
beautiful indeed! They wanted to give her some gifts on this day her birthday. Every God
gave her some piteous things, and, at last of all, Zeus put into her hands a box decorated with
