Resolved Issues
This section contains information about issues resolved in this software release and enhancements that have been
created and verified for this release. For a summary of all resolved issues in earlier 14.0 releases, see Previously
Resolved Issues section.
Resolved Issues
Problem Analysis
When a contact header had a hostname instead of an IP address and when a stop service was attempted while cleaning
up all the tables, an entry was being removed from ue_ip_table_demux_list regardless of whether the contact had a
hostname or an IP address. This resulted in a failure when the Contact header had a hostname.
Problem Solution
When there is an attempt to delete all tables, there is also an effort made to remove the entry from either the
ue_ip_table_demux_list or ue_host_addr_demux_list depending on whether the is_ip_address flag is set or not to fix the
issue.
This problem has been fixed.
Resolved Issues
Feature Changes
Clearing DT Starchannel Registers
Previous Behavior: DT FPGA starchannel registers were not monitored earlier.
New Behavior:PSC2 or PSC3 DT-side starchannel registers are now monitored. So, if some critical bits are stuck in the
DT registers, then an NPUMgr restart is performed and the register bits are cleared as part the NPUMgr initialization.
Impact on Customer:When the DT registers are stuck, NPUMgr restart will be occur which should automatically
resolve the issue.
Resolved Issues
Resolved Issues
Problem Solution
Added the additional event handler for ATCF scenario causing the double free. Fixed the double free by removing the
un-necessary event handler which no longer in use now.
This problem has been fixed.
Impact
No behavior or functional impact will be observed with this fix.
Resolved Issues
Problem Analysis
This issue was due to list remove failure. The freed pointer was being used to free the list entry. A failure might not
have happened every time.
Problem Solution
Code is fixed to use the pointer to remove list entry before it is freed.
This problem has been fixed.

Operator Notes
Operational Recommendations
Caution: Prior to loading a Release 12.2 or higher, we recommend that copies of the original configuration file be
made and stored (with unique release-identifying titles) both in the Flash and off the chassis.Configuration files created
and saved in Release 12.2 and higher cannot be shared across multiple chassis due to a change in the encryption
algorithm for passwords and secrets. Changes to Releases 12.2 and higher modify encrypted data in the configuration
file so that it cannot be recognized by previous software builds. If it is necessary to revert to a previous build, the chassis
must be booted with the copy of the original configuration file. If this copy is not available, then the chassis will need to
be loaded as if it is a new chassis.
Caution: The use of test commands could adversely affect the operation of your system. It is recommended that
they only be used under the guidance and supervision of a qualified support representative.
Security Enhancements
A number of changes have been implemented to improve the security of the ASR 5x00 platform. Those changes
include:
Implementation of a user configurable chassis key: A user can set a unique chassis key which will work only for a
chassis or for any set of chassis that will share the same configuration information.
ICSR chassis share the same chassis key: ICSR chassis use Service Redundancy Protocol (SRP) to periodically check
to see if the redundancy configuration matches with either decrypted passwords or DES-based two-way encryption
strings. Since the configuration is generated internally to the software, users are not able to access the configuration used
to check ICSR compatibility.
More secure password encryption: The system encrypts passwords using an MD5-based cipher instead of the earlier
DES-based cipher. These passwords also have a random 64-bit (8-byte) salt added to the password. The chassis key is
used as the encryption key. The encrypted password is displayed with a prefixed of +A in the configuration file to
identify the methodology used for encrypting.
Encrypted SNMP community strings: The snmp community encrypted name command enables the encryption of
SNMP community strings in the configuration file.
An external authenticating agent (such as RADIUS or Diameter) would send a list of LI server addresses as
part of access-accept. For any intercept that was already installed or will be installed for that subscriber, a
security check will be done to match the LI server address with any of the LI-addresses that was received from
the authenticating agent. Only those addresses that pass this criteria will get the intercepted information for that
subscriber.
Whenever an intercept is added, removed or modified, an event log is displayed across LI administrators about
the change. An SNMP trap is also generated.
SCM 14.0 51375 MR Release Note
13
Operator Notes
Notification of users being added or deleted, SNMP traps now notify an administrator when users are added or
removed
Notification of changes in privilege levels, An SNMP trap is now generated whenever a local user's privilege
level has been changed.
For additional information, refer to the Understanding System Security chapter in the System Administration Guide.
