As announced at the recent Moose lnternational Convention held in Nashville, Tennessee, which I had the
opportunity to attend, the new membership campaign for the 2015-2016 Moose year is "Build Our Foundation."
By working together, we can make OUR Lodge a success. Please look in the lobby and on the bulletin boards in
the social quarters for posters on campaign events.
It has been brought to my attention that profanity is being used in the social quarters. Remember, we are a
Family Center! That means we hold children's events and at any time children may be present. Please be respectful
of others by controlling yourself in the social quarters and in the surrounding areas.
Let me be the first to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy 2016!
Fraternally yours,
Jim Sheftz
A MESSAGE
We started the summer out with our annual Chicken BBQ with all the fixings. lt was a delicious and fingerlicking day. Missy and Andy threw their "Start of Summer Party." Wow... the decorations were exceptionally great.
We had finger foods, games, prizes, and music. We all had a good time. The WOTM sponsored a Summer Rafflea charcoal smoker and grill with hot dogs, burgers, and ribs. The lucky winner was Cindy Aiello. Patty Hudak chaired
the WOTM Clam Bake in July and she served a scrumptious feast. We had crab soup, steamed clams and shrimp,
grilled sausage, veggies, and a big fat watermelon. Great job Patty and crewl The WOTM sponsored a Summer
End Raffle-a Seafood Adventure and the winner was Robin (a friend of Missy Bowers.)
Watch for the upcoming WOTM Moose-shaped and autumn leaves sugar cookie sale that will be offered as a
fundraiser. Rita always does a great job.
Advance notice...on October 3'd at 3:00 P.M. we are having our Annual Crab Feast. Timmy Speakman is our
host for this event that features steamed crabs, hot roast beef, hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob, and french fries along with
beer, wine, and soda. The cost is $4O/person....get your tickets ASAP.
Please check and keep your newsletter and calendar of events handy. We have some fun activities coming up
during the fall and winter seasons. Be sure to get ready for the annual Claymont Community Christmas Parade as
it will be here before you know it...and we want lots of participation from our Lodge and Chapter members.
Thank you everyone for your support and help with our activities. You never know how strong you are... until
strong is the only choice you have.
ln Faith, Hope, and Charity,
Lorraine Talarico Smith

HEART OF THE COMMUNITY PROGRAM - WAY TO GO !
Community Service is a very important mission for every Lodge and Chapter of the Moose.
Additionally, wherever the Moose lnternational Convention is held, plans are always made for
volunteers to participate in local community events. lt is important for the Moose to be visible to
the community to make people aware of what we are as an organization. At the recent convention
held in July in Nashville, Tennessee, the following occurred:
Over 1,600 lbs. of food was donated by Moose members and delivered to a Food Bank
where volunteers also sorted 18,120 lbs. of non-perishable and frozen food
A donation of school supplies to a Family Shelter was the largest ever received according to
staff members
A skid of 869 children's' books was donated to Book 'Em, an organization that provides
books to underprivileged families in an effort to combat illiteracy
.1. 52 members donated blood during a blood drive which will save 144lives, according to the
Red Cross

Through Moose "Kids Talks" presentations, participants in the program have reached an audience
of more than 750,000 children throughout North America. Students have a chance to compete
for $30,000 in college scholarship money that is awarded annually by Moose lnternational through
this program. The future rests in the hands, hearts, and minds of our children. We as members
of the Loyal Order of Moose and Women of the Moose will continue to provide assistance to make
our communities a better place for families to live and for our children to grow.
