Interview questionnaire on Faith Development
Age: 17

Life Review
Do you recall any changes in relationships that have had a significant impact on your life or your
way of thinking about things?
Answer: Yes!
How was your image of God change across your lifes chapters? Who or what is God to you
now?
Answer: Before, I was attending in Catholic Church because of my friend. Until such time, when
my mother invited me to attend to their church where she belong. So, in that way I decided to
across my lifes chapter to a new level of my spirituality. For me, it is not all about what God is,
but its all about who he is. The importance is I know God whole heartedly.
Relationships
Focusing now on the present, how would you describe your parents and your current
relationship to them?
Answer: I describe my parents and current relationship to them in a way of having an intimate
relationship with them that the center of our life is God. Because I believe that if , God is the
center there is no problem at all.
What groups, institutions, or causes, do you identify with? Why do you think that these are
important to you?
Answer: The group that Im belonging is our church. Im comfortable with them, praising our
God and doing our responsibility inside that church. They are very important to me because
they are helping me to grow spiritually.
Present Values and Commitments
Are there any beliefs, values, or commitment seems important to your life right now?
Answer: One thing that I should know today, that everything comes from the Lord and no one
will be greater than God. Im proudly to say that I have God in my life.

What is your image or model (idea or person) of mature faith?

Answer: In terms of maturity of faith. I would say that Im the one because the lord want us that
no flesh will lift and be living in spirit because the bible says in John 4:24 God is spirit and you
must worship him in spirit.
Do you consider yourself a religious person and what does it mean to you?
Answer: Yes! I will consider myself a servant of God not a religious person. Because it is not
about the religion its all about the relationship to the lord.
If people disagree about a religious issue, how can such religious conflicts be resolved?
Answer: If theres someone disagree about my religious beliefs. Ill be quite! Because God say
that theres a relation in silence. And you will not please them. If there is something that I
should do is to pray with them because in prayer there is nothing impossible.

Fowler, inspired by the work of Lawrence Kohlberg, Erik Erickson and Jean Piaget
proposed faith developmental theory to describe the conceptual progression of a persons
understanding of faith. Fowler argues Faith involves the alignment of the heart or will and a
commitment of loyalty and trust.
As I interview a teen and an adult. I noticed that they have a different perception in life
when it comes to faith.
When I interviewed a teen, I relate her answer to James Fowlers Theory and I thought
she belongs to stage 3, which is the Synthetic Conventional Faith, this person works to meet the
expectation of the relationship in their life, especially when her mother invited her to attend to
their church. She decided to across her lifes chapter to a new level of spirituality. I can also
relate her answers to stage 4 which is the Individual- reflective Faith. This person develops a
grounded identity knowing what and why they believe until she became more comfortable in
praising our God and doing responsibility inside that church.
When I interviewed an adult, I relate his answer to stage 5 which is the Conjunctive
Faith because when his parents are alive they made them closer to God until he became a
father. Thats why his doing the same thing to his son. He is a religious person, but not only a
church going but he considered God in everything he did. Something about his faith is absolute.
Instead of that the individual knows what the faith is.

According to my interviewee, God is always involved in their life. God means many
different things to many different people. They are people who believe that there is God. They
personally believe that there is a God because of our faith.
I have faith in God and I feel that God is real. I have many reasons why I believe in God
and who God is to me. But I have three reasons that stand out for me about who God is to me.
They are the following: God is always there for me, God is my friend, and God is my creator.
These are my three most important reasons of who God is and what God means to me. God
has never let me down in my life. Sometimes I feel that God has let me down or that He did not
answer my prayers in times that I most needed Him. But I have to realize that everything that
God does is for a reason.
In conclusion, God means many different things to our lives. I know that everyone has
their own perceptions of God. God is somebody who will always be in our life. I feel that
everyone should have God in his or her lives also. I feel that everyone should have faith and
keep his or her beliefs in something or someone.
