section. What is the formula? (Draw the diagram and write the formula only). 3

aj 0.45 b) 0.02 c) 20% d) Non of these 2

4. A column is under direct compressive force (non-eccentric under practical

limits). What is the shear force for which this column is to be designed? 2

5. A Column is made with a Steel pipe is filled with concrete. The Concrete has a
Grade of M40. What type of axial Compressive stress can this concrete
withstand? 2

7. Design a column with height of 3 m under axial load of 120 kN using any
available cross-section. 5

8. Design a Built up column with 7 m length carrying an axial load of 850 kN. 10

9. A beam of 7 m length carries a uniformly distributed load of 35 kN/m including

its own weight. This beam is sufficiently restrained in compression flange. The
available cross-section is ISMB 400. Design the beam. If extra plate is
necessary, place it symmetrically both in top and bottom. 10
