Ignacio Cacace was born in La Plata,Buenos Aires,Argentina in 1982. At the age


of 3 he already presented good qualities for music and he started to play
drums with his own designed set. At the age of 9 he started to study drums and
percussion in a formal way with several teachers of his city and at the same
time he received a piano as a gift of his grandfather Juan Ivanovich (a
renowned tango musician of Buenos Aires). He continues his musical studies
during High School period and when he finished High School he decided to
become a professional musician. He applied at EMU Educacin Musical (School
wich is part of the International Association of Schools of Jazz) for the degree of
Professional Musician with orientation in Composing and Arrangements of Jazz
Music. He started to play guitar too and he felt in love with that instrument so
he decided to adopt It as his main instrument. He finished his degree with an
average of 97/100. Then he continued studying with the most prominent
musicians in Argentina. He studied Composition with Guillermo Klein (the most
renowned composer in Argentina,actually Guillermo lives in NYC and he
became the first Argentinian musician to sign a contract with an international
jazz label. Sunnyside in this case. And he is the first Argentinian musician who
plays an entire week at the legendary Village Vanguard),jazz language with
Ernesto Jodos (the most renowned Argentinian pianist and the Principal of the
first state college carrier of jazz at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory in
Argentina),Guillermo Romero,Enrique Norris and jazz guitar with Juan Pablo
Arredondo,Marcelo Gutfraind and Alejandro Demogli among others.
At the age of 28 Ignacio traveled to NYC for his first time to study with many
great musicians of the jazz scene like Mark Turner (the most acclaimed jazz
saxophone player in NYC. He recorded 60 albums to the present in the most
famous labels like Warner Bros,ECM and Verve among others),John Scofield
(legendary jazz guitarist who played with Miles Davis,Jaco Pastorius,Pat
Metheny and he recorded approximately 50 albums with labels like Blue
Note,ECM,Sony and Universal Records),Kurt Rosenwinkel (the most influent jazz
guitarist of the last decade and actually the most renowned guitarist in whole
worlds jazz scene. About 55 albums recorded with ECM,Criss Cross Records

and Sony among others) ,Ben Monder and Aaron Goldberg (frequent
collaborator with Wynton Marsalis,Joshua Redman,Kurt Rosenwinkel and
Guillermo Klein among others).
In 2011 he received an invitation to play with his group at the ICM International
Jazz Festival in Mar del Plata wich is the most important Jazz Festival in
Argentina along with the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival. Ignacio won two mentions
from the festivals organizers: Best Guitarist of the Festival and Newcomer
musician of the Festival. Ignacio is invited to the Festival again in 2012 and
2013. During the 3 festivals he shared scene and jam sessions with many of
the best international musicians like: Jean Michel Pilc (France) ,Mark Helias
(United States),Guillermo Klein (Argentina),Daniel Pipi Piazzolla (grandson of
the worldwide famous tango musician Astor Piazzolla,)Hugo Fattorusso (most
renowned musician in Uruguay) Ernesto Jodos and Jeronimo Carmona among
others. In 2013 Ignacio received another invitation to play in a big Jazz Festival.
The AJLP Jazz Festival in La Plata,Buenos Aires,Argentina in this case and he
played his own compositions with his group and gave a workshop on
Counterpoint and harmonic exploration on guitar.
In 2014 Ignacio decided to travel again to NYC convinced that Its the best
place to develop his skills as a musician. That time he forms a band to play his
own original compositions and made several gigs all around NYC with greats
critics and reviews. The group played twice at the SomethinJazz Club located
in the heart of Manhattan. This club won the Great Jazz Venue prize of 2012
given by Downbeat Magazine which is the most famous magazine in Jazz world.
Both concerts was with roomful. That concerts encouraged Ignacio to booked
more concerts in another clubs like the Shrine in Harlem. Beatiful venue where
several jazz legends used to go to listen the new talents in jazz. During his
second concert at Shrine the legendary jazz guitarist Mike Stern (collaborator
with Miles Davis,Jaco Pastorius,Stan Getz and Joe Henderson among others)
was on the crowd so after the concert Mike approached Ignacio and told him I
m sure Ill hear your name again in the future. Your playing is really amazing
so lyrical. Encouraged by all the positive experiences and good critics that he
received Ignacio decided to record his first album as a bandleader called New
Concepts of Pop Music recorded on January 2014 at Tedesco Studios,NJ,with
greats musicians as sidemans: Gianni Gagliardi from Spain ( Brooklyns
Best...Tenor Saxist Gianni Gagliardi is one of the new up and comers, and he
sounds pretty impressive and original George W.Harris, Jazz Weekly ),Lars
Ekman from Sweden (Mr Ekman has recorded over 30 albums as a sideman
and in 2008 he recorded his debut album Introducing Lars Ekman and released
it on Stockholm Jazz Records to critical acclaim) and Jesse Simpson from the
U.S (Jesse Simpson is a drummer and pianist based in Brooklyn, NY and a
graduate of the Manhattan School of Music. Having toured internationally, Jesse
has performed alongside Louie Bellson, backed comedians Fred Armisen and
Janeane Garafalo and played with Marc Copland, Wynton Marsalis, Kevin Hays,
Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Chris Cheek and many more). The album was
released by BCN Jazz Collective Records on January 2015. The album receives

good reviews and critics from magazines and renowned musicians of the scene.
Actually Ignacio leads in Argentina the KKC Group. In this group Ignacio joined
some of the most talented young musicians in the Argentinian scene like
Federico Viceconte on tenor sax (more than 12 albums recorded as a sideman.
Federico has worked with Alejandro Herrera,Ernesto Jodos and Sebastin
Peycer among other famous musicians),Nicols Pasetti on double bass (more
than 14 albums recorded. Nicols collaborated with Ernesto Jodos,Pipi
Piazzolla,Juan Pablo Arredondo among others) and Luciano Monte on Drums
(Luciano has worked with renowned worldwide famous artists like David
Bisbal,Alejandro Sanz and Cristian Castro among others). At the same time
Ignacio leads the KKC Standards Trio with Nicols Pasetti and Luciano Monte
and Pequea Orquesta Mishatov Duo with Federico Viceconte. Ignacio is
actually one of the most influents musicians in Argentina and as the web site
Argentjazz.com said: Ignacio Cacace is a lyrical and a restless guitarist and
composer. Part of a young talented generation of jazz musicians who shows
that Argentinian Jazz is in the best shape.
