1. This assignment contains only ONE (1) question that is set in both Malay and English. / Tugasan ini
mengandungi SATU (1) soalan sahaja yang disediakan dalam bahasa Melayu dan bahasa Inggeris.
2. Answer in Malay or English. / Jawab dalam bahasa Melayu atau bahasa Inggeris.
3. Learners are to submit assignment only in MsWord format unless specified otherwise. Please refrain from
converting text/phrases into picture format such as .gif / .jpeg / print screen / etc. / Anda dikehendaki
menyerahkan tugasan dalam format MsWord melainkan dinyatakan sebaliknya. Anda tidak dibenarkan
untuk menukar teks/frasa tugasan tersebut kepada format grafik seperti .jpeg / .gif / print screen / dan
lain-lain format berkaitan.
4. Download the language version of the assignment template concerned from the MyVLE for preparation
and submission of your assignment. Your assignment should be typed using 12 point Times New Roman
font and 1.5 line spacing. / Muat turunkan templat tugasan versi bahasa yang berkenaan daripada
MyVLE untuk penyediaan dan penyerahan tugasan anda. Tugasan anda hendaklah ditaip dengan

5. Your assignment should be between 2500 to 3000 words excluding references. Do not copy the
assignment question and instructions to your answer. Only assignment answer developed within the
approximate word limit will be assessed. The number of words should be shown at the end of your
assignment. / Tugasan anda hendaklah mengandungi 2500 hingga 3000 patah perkataan tidak termasuk
rujukan. Bilangan perkataan hendaklah ditunjukkan di hujung tugasan anda. Jangan menyalin soalan
dan arahan tugasan dalam jawapan anda. Pemeriksa tidak akan membaca jawapan tugasan yang

7. You can submit your assignment ONCE only in a SINGLE file. The file must be in MS-WORD format.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this task is to assess your ability to:

demonstrate logical arguments/discussions with supporting facts and evidences.

ACTIVITY 1 (30%)
Some academicians believe that distance learning will never be able to supply the personal
interaction (communication) that some students crave.
Do you agree or disagree with the statement?
In a 300-350 word essay, describe relevant reasons to support your stand. Provide
constructive suggestions that may help to improve communication and interaction between
OUM learners and tutors.

ACTIVITY 2 (30%)
A study conducted by Flow (2007) * indicates that one of the barriers to successful distance
learning is lack of time management skills. As open and distant learner student, do you think
time management skills are important in the success of your learning? Describe your answer
in a 300-350 words essay.

Read an essay on Moral Education can build a childs character (refer to Attachment 1 of the
assignment question).
(a) Prepare an annotation; and
(b) Mind map notes of the essay that you have read;
(c) Paraphrase the underlined text into your own words:

ACTIVITY 4 (10%)
Share your experiences and describe how you make use of myVLE to help in your learning?
Note: Write a 150-200 word essay for the above activity.

TUJUAN
Tujuan tugasan ini adalah untuk menilai keupayaan anda dalam :

mendapatkan maklumat;

membuat nota dari bahan bacaan;

mengiktiraf kerja penulis lain, dan

mengemukakan hujah-hujah logikal/ perbincangan dengan sokongan fakta dan


bukti.

Ada dikalangan ahli akademik mempercayai bahawa pembelajaran jarak jauh, "tidak akan
mampu untuk menyalurkan interaksi peribadi (komunikasi) seperti apa yang pelajar
inginkan."

Baca esei mengenai 'Pendidikan Moral dapat membina watak kanak-kanak. (Lampiran 1).
Berdasarkan esei tersebut, anda dikehendaki:

(b) menyediakan peta minda; dan
(c) parafrasa perenggan yang digariskan.

Education has had two great goals: to help young people become smart and to help them
become good. Good character is not formed automatically; it has developed over time
through a sustained process of teaching, example, learning, and practice it is developed
through character education. The intentional teaching of good character is particularly
important in todays society since our youth face many opportunities and dangers unknown
to earlier generations. They are bombarded with many more negative influences through the
media and other external sources prevalent in todays culture. And at the same time, there
are many more day-to-day pressures impinging on the time that parents and children have
together. Studies show that children spend only 38.5 minutes a week (33.4 hours a year) in
meaningful conversation with his or her parents, while they spend 1,500 hours watching
television. Since children spend about 900 hours a year in school, it is essential that schools
resume a proactive role in assisting families and communities by developing caring,
respectful environments where students learn core, ethical values. In order to create our
schools as the caring and respectful communities we know they can be, we must look
deeper we must be intentional, proactive, and comprehensive in our work to encourage the
development of good character in young people.
