Special One Night Event

With Author and Speaker Mary Jo Sharp

Let the Children Come

One of our favorite traditional pictures of Jesus is that of Him
with a little child seated in His lap and basking in the glow
of the God-Mans love. He told us to Let the children come
to Me. We seek to do that here at First Baptist Church in
many different ways.
Probably over 3,000 attended the Trunk & Treat event last
Friday. We were initially anxious about the schedule since
Halloween was the next day, which conflicted with our
priority of worship and Bible Study. The Lord blessed. Many of you brought cars
or served in various ways. Dozens of potential prospects were registered. Fun
was had by all! Children received warm smiles as well as Snickers and Skittles.
This past Sunday, at the end of the 9:30 worship service, we baptized a brother
and sister who came to Christ in one of our Good News Clubs at a public
school. We then showed the tape in the new Chapel worship service with the
kids and their family in attendance. Of course, we continue to reach out beyond
our walls to boys and girls of all ages and still have the largest number of Good
News Clubs of any church in the U.S.
Our campus is a focal point and a base of operations for all of our ministries. It
was designed for 24/7 multiple uses. The only truly exclusively dedicated space
for elementary age children has been what is called Kidztown. In the Kidztown
room, in the Discipleship Building, we have AWANA ministry to elementaryaged children on Wednesday evening, various childrens programs and their
unique gathering time during the weekend worship services.
Some of our skilled laymen have built a beautiful and functional new set to
change the atmosphere and provide an updated look to that large room on the
western lower floor of the Discipleship Center. The new space will be called
Town Square and will be introduced in a special family event focused on
children this Sunday evening. A guest Christian entertainer and comedian will
have fun with them and challenge us. We will pray over the facility and get a
chance to see this new design. Feel free to attend to celebrate with us as we
get a new vision for reaching children for Christ.
*There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and
Sunday morning 11:00am worship services. Pastor would love to meet you!

to her Lord. Karen loved children, and she and Forrest
raised their three sons here. The Bailey family, which
