WHAT IS BIOCORROSION?
Biofilm formation on the metal surface is responsible for the origin of the micro
environmental conditions that causes localized metal loss. That is why the early
identification of present bacterial groups related to this phenomenon is a key element
for the timely implementation of monitoring activities.
Continuing with the accomplishment of its mission the C.I.C. has developed BioCor, a
product oriented to diagnose and monitor bacterial populations associated with
corrosion processes.
MICROBIOLOGICAL
COUNT VIALS
DESCRIPTION
Specific and differential media composed by
nutritious substances oriented for the isolation and
identification of the main bacterial groups
associated with biocorrosion.
PURPOSES
Detection and quantification of the main biological
agents involved in biocorroion phenomena
(Sulfate-Reducing Bacteria, Thiosulfate Reducing
Bacteria, Acid Producer Bacteria, Total
Heterotrophic Bacteria, Total Anaerobic Bacteria,
Ferro Bacteria) using solid and liquid samples from
industrial systems.
Monitoring of the effectiveness of biocide
treatments (planktonic bacteria).
Obtainment of a microbiological profile of
planktonic bacterial of a system.
All BioCor culture media products composition, preparation and serve specifications follow the
guidelines described in the standard NACE TM-0194(04) and ASTM D4412-84 (09)
