CHAPTER 10 RECOMMENDATIONS

Citadel tower is a research study for a high performance and climate adaptive high-rise building
encapsulated with bioclimatic approach in a green building design, with its ecological factors, it
has exposed innovative solutions and responsive development to the local context.

It is a combination of residential, commercial and ofce spaces that addresses the growing
demands of office space for the BPO companies in the near future. This research study can
then be used as a reference for designing such skyscraper with similar concepts, especially
when it comes to climate change mitigation issues; moreover the research provides a study on
climate adaptive building design encapsulated with innovative design solutions that can respond
with the local context where the project site is located.

This type of development is usually not common in a tall building typology in our country so the
research tends to contribute for the awareness of the tall buildings connection in relation to
fossil fuel energy use and resources consumption. As high-rise building characteristics as a
dominant urban gure, the proponent seeks possibilities in making an architectural response for
social responsibility towards environment preservation to continue the survival of the future
generations.

Further studies like, a deeper research such as more innovative green and sustainable design
solutions or going beyond sustainability, alternative and more cost efficient systems, and more
techniques in utilizing renewable energy sources can still be made.

As for designing such facility, the proponent came-up with the following recommendations as for
the considerations in making research studies for a green skyscraper.

It shall focus on the efcient building orientation and form to exploit the harvest of on-site

renewable energies
Consider not only the active mode of reducing energy consumption but also the passive
mode that uses passive forces of nature to provide comfort for the occupants of the

building
Impose strong connections between the occupants and built environment thus creating

an effective building transparency

Location of the building to reduce carbon footprint from transportation and low- impact

site development by effective storm water management and heat island effect mitigation
Selection of building technologies to reduce construction wastage, also selection of low-

impact and sustainable materials of buildings is considered

Application of water efciency measures to ensure the consumption reduction in terms of

water resources
Provide good indoor air quality to promote healthy building for the occupants
Integrate kinetic systems that can harness energy from natural elements such as sun,
wind and water
