Background of The Study

Statement of the problem

In the creation of a sustainable community, there are two primary principles:
designing for the place and designing with the place. There are ways to design for the
community like proposing new developments, but how about designing with the
community? The main problem of this research study is to know how to make a network
designed for and with the community.
Specifically, the research seeks to answer the following questions:
1. What are the sites strategic points that will cater the needs of the
community?
2. What are the developments that will promote communitys vibrant
interactions?
3. How can architecture and design relate to the communitys character and
culture?
4. What are the green innovative interventions that would give the highest
possible potential developments on the community with respect to the
natural site and the people?
5. What differences can be made to diverge the existing structures for a
sustainable and environmentally responsive community?
Significance of the Study:
This study will be a significant endeavor in promoting a harmonious community
within the city. The study will also be beneficial to the people of the community
especially the stakeholders encouraging them to implement the developments proposed
for the integration of the community. This research will also provide analysis and
evaluation of the site and provide recommendations for further studies.
Moreover, this study will be beneficial for the architecture and urban planning
aspirants and practitioners informing them the sites condition, objective and strategies
for developments. It will also serve as a future reference for researchers on the subject of
community planning and design. And importantly, this research will educate people in
different community network with regards to the design, developments, strategies and
principles about an integrated, interconnected and interactive community.
Goals and Objectives:
Goal: The main goal of the study is to elevate the present state of the community
into a more livable and sustainable network through planning and architecture. With this,

it is also a goal of the study to provide new developments that would benefit the
community and at the same time promote a unifying character in the whole place.
Objectives: The main objective of the study is to envision a community that is
sustainable, walkable, livable, well-lighted where varied people can enjoy places to
live, work, play, shop, dine, worship and study
To provide an environmentally-responsive housing opportunities that will cater
students and workers
To develop the Pasig river instead of becoming a backdoor attribute
To establish prominent entrance points to develop a sense of place
To be able to make efficient use of open space to regenerate the area and present
employment opportunities
To form a strategic transportation network inside the community
To create a sustainable community by addressing the environmental problems and
create alternative forms of energy
Scope and Delimitations of the Study:
The research study will focus on the development of the community being
integrated, interconnected and interactive. The study will only dwell within the sites
existing facilities and open spaces. Gathering of data will come from ocular visits,
interviews from stakeholder and survey statistics. The research information must be
more precise and specific for the better understanding and analysis of the topic.
On delimitations of the study, it does not provide developments outside the site,
and will not prove in actual methods the proposed developments for the community.
