The Occupational Health and Safety Checklist is designed to help employees and
managers assess OHS risks in the home office or telework location. This guide
was prepared referencing the NSW WorkCover Authority publication, Health and
Safety in the Office Guide 2004. However it is not an exhaustive list and it is
strongly recommended that an inspection of the off-site location.
A copy of the completed checklist should be retained on the employees
personnel file with the work agreement.

The area of the work surface is at least 1500mm (width) x 900mm (depth)
The height of the work surface is 680 mm - 720 mm above floor level
There is at least 800mm (width) x 550mm (depth) of leg space under the
workstation
The most frequently used items are within easy reach from the seated
position
Chair
The seat height, seat tilt, angle and back rest are all adjustable
The chair height is adjusted so that feet are flat on the floor and knees are
bent at right angles with thighs parallel to the floor
The seat back is adjusted to support the lumbar curve of the low back
The seat pan tilt is adjusted so that hips and tops of thighs are at right
angles or slightly greater
The arm rests can be stowed whilst typing, but may provide support
during other activities
Keyboard to user distance allows user to relax shoulders with elbows close
to the body
