First Negative Speaker Template

1. Good morning Mr Chairman/Madam Chairperson, Ladies and

Gentlemen.
2. The topic for out debate is That tuition is a waste of time
and money.
3. Now, we as todays opposition strongly believe that this is
not true, but before we come to our argumentation, let us
first define some important terms in this debate. Tuition
means extra classes taught by a tutor which students have
to pay their fees every month. Waste of time and money
means spending of time and money without adequate
return. In short, our topic today is defined as the tuition is
useless and students are spending their time and money
unprofitable. However, we the negative team strongly
believe that this statement is wrong.
4. Today as first speaker I will be talking to you about the
benefits of attending tuition class.
5. Our second speaker will be talking about that students can
get a better grades and have greater self-esteem.
Our third speaker will rebut and sum up our team case.
6. The first speaker of the affirmative team has tried to tell you
that tuition is a waste of time. She said that a student
should do revision at home instead of taking extra tuition.
7. This is wrong because any sort of study activity can never
be termed as a waste. At least a student comes back
home and gets into his books instead of doing other
activities that will take him nowhere in life. Like what she
had said, do revision at home. However, not every student
can do revision on their own. If he can do better with just
some extra tuition classes, why consider tuitions to be a
waste rather than looking at it from positive aspect?
8. She also said that students have no time to relax or to do
other activities if they attend tuition class.
9. This is wrong because a student usually attend one tuition
class a day. Let us assume that a tuition class lasts for 2
hours. Students mostly spend 7 hours every day in school
which is from 7.30 to 2.30 p.m. Then, they go to tuition

class from 4.30 to 6.30p.m. As a result, they still have 4

more hours to relax or to do activities.

I will be discussing two points.

My first point is students can gain extra knowledge
that may not be taught in the school.

This is because some school teachers doesnt care
about his students academic, sometimes they only teach
the basic knowledge , they did not explain one by one unlike
the tuition teacher did. Dont get me wrong. There are still
many good teachers in school but a big portion these days
act irresponsibility.

Now to my second point that is tuition has become a
reinforced learning for a student.

This is because when a student is able to attend
classes in two places, the student will have reinforced
learning. This is very important because as the student
learns more, there will be a tendency to retain more in the
mind.

So, Mr Chairman/Madam Chairperson, Ladies and
Gentlemen, in conclusion we the negative team strongly
believe that tuition is not only a waste of time and money, it
also brings a lot of benefits to us. Thank you.
