How To Prevent Dysmenorrhea Pain?
Menstruation is a natural part of a womans life, usually begin to appear in
women aged 12 until 49 years. Menstruation can also be used as a sign that a woman
begins to mature. Every woman has a different menstrual periods, the pain when
having menstruation is often felt by most of the women. Painful menstruation also
known as dysmenorrhea.
Prostaglandins are chemicals that are formed in the lining of the uterus during
menstruation. These prostaglandins cause muscle contractions in the uterus, which
cause pain and decrease blood flow and oxygen to the uterus. These contractions can
cause significant pain and discomfort. High levels of prostaglandins may also cause
nausea and lightheadedness.
The main symptom of dysmenorrhea is pain. It occurs in your lower abdomen
during menstruation and may also be felt in your hips, lower back, or thighs. Other
symptoms may include behavior such as anxiety, depression, sensitive, sleep
disturbances, fatigue, weakness, food cravings, and sometimes change mood quickly.
In addition, the physical complaints such as sore or swollen breast, abdominal
bloating or pain, headacne, joint pain, back pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,
dizziness, lightheadedness and skin problems such as acne. For most women, the pain
usually starts shortly before or during menstrual period, peaks after 24 hours, and
subsides after 2 to 3 days. Their cramps or pain might even interfere with their work,
school, and daily activities.

The cause of dysmenorrhea varies up today often only a risk factor and
supposition, not a definitive cause. Psychological factors play an important role to
pain during menstruation, psychological factors that often happens is stress. The next
risk factor is age, and other factors that may make the pain of dysmenorrhea even
worse include a uterus that tilts backward (retroverted uterus) instead of forward, lack

of exercise, psychological or social stress, smoking, drinking alcohol, being


overweight, and starting menstruating before age 11.
To relieve mild menstrual cramps you can place a heating pad or hot water
bottle on your lower back or abdomen. Taking a warm bath may also provide some
relief. You should also rest when needed, avoid foods that contain caffeine and salt,
avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, massage your lower back and abdomen but
make sure you dont press too hard, you dont want to cause more pain instead of
relief, this can help relax the muscles and relieve the pain . doing mild exercises like
stretching, walking, or biking cause exercise may improve blood flow and reduce
pelvic pain, women who exercise regularly often have less menstrual pain. To help
prevent cramps, make exercise a part of your weekly routine, and then getting plenty
of rest and avoiding stressful situations as your period approaches, also bend and
stretch with yoga.
You may also wish to consider alternative therapies such as hypnosis, herbal
medications, or acupuncture. Be cautious with herbal medications. They may be
natural but they are not necessarily safe or free of side effects. Check before trying
any herbal medications.
Other medications treatments for the pain of dysmenorrhea include an analgesic
medication. Many women find relief with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
(NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and acetylsalicylic acid (ASA).
Although you might be able to relieve your cramps with these remedies, dont
ignore your pain if it doesnt go away or if it becomes more severe than normal. The
following symptoms could be warning signs of a more serious health issue such as
your pain doesnt go away when your period stops than you should seek medical
help, or you have a fever, start vomiting or feel nauseated, youre bleeding more
heavily than normal and you think you could be pregnant. you dont need to suffer
from menstrual cramps each month. Try these remedies and consult with your doctor
to find what works best for you.
So, dysmenorrhea is the occurrence of painful cramps during menstruation who
felt by most women. The main symptom of dysmenorrhea is pain. Its normal to have

mild cramps during your period because of uterine contractions. There are several
factors that cause dysmenorrhea that psychological factors, age, and others factor.
