Therewere492,000joblessFloridiansoutofalaborforceof9,578,000.TheU.S.unemploymentratewas5.0
percentinOctober.Floridasunemploymentratehasbeenlessthanorequaltothenationalratefor23ofthe
last35months.

Floridasseasonallyadjustedtotalnonagriculturalemploymentwas8,150,200inOctober2015,anincreaseof
35,200jobs(+0.4percent)overthemonth.ComparedtoOctoberayearago,thenumberofjobsinthestate
wasupby239,900,anincreaseof3.0percent.Nationally,thenumberofjobswasup2.0percentoverthe
year.FloridasannualjobgrowthratehasexceededthenationsratesinceApril2012.

FloridasNonagriculturalEmploymentbyIndustry(SeasonallyAdjusted)

The number of jobs in Florida was 8,150,200 in October 2015, up 239,900 jobs compared to a year ago.
October2015wasthe63rdconsecutivemonthwithpositiveannualjobgrowthafterthestatelostjobsforover
three years. The industry gaining the most jobs was professional and business services (+49,700 jobs, +4.2
percent).

Other industries gaining jobs included leisure and hospitality (+49,100 jobs, +4.4 percent); education and
healthservices(+48,400jobs,+4.1percent);trade,transportation,andutilities(+45,300jobs,+2.8percent);
construction (+18,700 jobs, +4.6 percent); other services (+14,500 jobs, +4.4 percent); financial activities
(+13,900jobs,+2.6percent);andmanufacturing(+5,000jobs,+1.5percent).

Theindustriesthatlostjobsovertheyearwereinformation(100jobs,0.1percent)andgovernment(4,300
jobs,0.4percent).

LocalAreaUnemploymentStatistics(NotSeasonallyAdjusted)

In October 2015, Monroe County had the states lowest unemployment rate (3.4 percent), followed by St.
JohnsCounty(3.6percent)andAlachuaandOkaloosacounties(4.2percenteach).
Hendry County had the highest unemployment rate (9.4 percent) in Florida in October 2015, followed by
HardeeCounty(7.9percent)andHighlandsandPutnamcounties(6.9percenteach).Nocountyhadadouble
digitunemploymentrateforOctober.

AreaNonagriculturalEmployment(NotSeasonallyAdjusted)

All twentyfour metro areas in the state had overtheyear job gains in October 2015. The areas with the
largestgainswereOrlandoKissimmeeSanford(+43,000jobs,+3.8percent),TampaSt.PetersburgClearwater
(+37,100jobs,+3.0percent),andFt.LauderdalePompanoBeachDeerfieldBeach(+26,100jobs,+3.3percent).
