THE ADOPT A SCHOOL PLAN

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY
ADOPTION?
Adoption illustrates 'nurturing'. In
more then one way adoption of
school also means nurturing of the
school, children and other
stakeholders. Most government
schools in the province of Sindh
lack basic facilities and quality
education consequently exposing
thousands of children to
illequipped schools and poor
quality of education. By adopting
a school one can play a role of an
education enabler by improving
the physical and quality situation
of the government schools.

The SEF through the Adopt A School Plan

strives to establish sustainable public
private partnership for government school
improvement. SEF encourages
individuals/organizations to
adopt government schools
and guides them to ensure
government school revival.

the staff and the students.
The students of private
schools are encouraged

the revival of government
schools

Can the adopter take any action against the

school staff?
Under no circumstances can the adopter take
any actions against the school staff. However
the adopter has the right to submit reports
against errant staff. Based on the written
complaints of the adopter, the Department of
Education is liable to take disciplinary action
against errant staff. Moreover, the adopter can

changes with government school setup.

arranging field visits, arranging educational
programs etc.

What are the most

common requirements
of government schools?

There are several

broad categories
under which
underutilized
schools are
covered. They
could be schools
that are basically in
need of teacher
training, teaching
aids or supplementary reading material, but could spread all the
way to schools lacking for teachers, desks, electricity and even
students.

When a school is adopted

does the ownership of the
school transfer to the adopter?
The adoption of a school
does not entail the
handing over of school
property (i.e. building,
material etc) or the
privatization/
denationalization of the
school. Adoption is a
process by which an
individual/organization
becomes a caregiver or
friend so as to improve the
overall standard of the
school.
