Imaging
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Course: Communications 130 Section 4
Date: 10/17/2015
Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop
Description: The photo is meant to attract families
and help them realize it doesnt matter what they look
like on the outside, what matters is whats built on the
inside.

Objectives: Choose a color scheme, take a photo

to match those colors, then incorporate the colors

into the layout. Adjust image levels, saturation, color
balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (nondestructive editing.)

Process: After I came and edited it on Adobe

Photoshop, adjusting the levels, contrast, vibrance,

and looked into changing the colors and curves of the
photo but decide to leave those alone. After I decide
that my color scheme would be monochromatic and just
had the color blue. After I found the quote online after
searching for a while at motivational quotes.

Logos
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Course: Communications 130 Section 4
Date: 10/31/2015
Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator
Description: This week we were suppose to use Adobe Illustrator and create a logo for business or a made up
business, so for this week I decide to make a logo for my
personal business card I will make when I get a name for
myself. So being a ginger I was given a lot of nicknames
in my life one particular was the Redhead Dragon so I
decide to make it a trademark for me one day.

Objectives: Create three completely different,

original logos to fit a company or personal image that

will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos
or use previous designs. Use only the Illustrator tools to
create and draw your logos.

Process: So the main process for this week was we

made three different logos in which we went around and

did a little survey asking our peers which three logos they
liked?

Flier
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Course: Communications 130 Section 4
Date: 10/03/2015
Programs Used: InDesign
Description: Black and White promotional flier to
promote a graduate leadership audience.

Objectives: Apply the design principles and use

appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign

skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and
logo from links on this page. Create a project folder with
image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in
InDesign intact.

Process: I first drew some sketches of the possible

outlines for the flier which after I went to Abode

InDesign and I started created some of my sketches to
see how they would turn out. After a couple of failed
tries with the flier I decide to go very basic as I was
trying to do to much. I kept things simple and tried to
align the title, logo, date, time, and place together.

Montage
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Course: Communications 130 Section 4
Date: 10/24/2015
Programs Used: Photoshop
Description: So for this project we had to take

two or more images and blend them together to make

a inspirational photo with a quote. So I decide to use
a photo I took last week on one of my hikes and try to
reach out to those who are christian who feel like they
are doing everything they are suppose to but yet still feel
lost and stuck.

Objectives: Learn to blend two or more images

together gradually, using masks. Demonstrate more

advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple
elements Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the
image. Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events
or scripturesyour choice).

Process: The main program I used was Photoshop

in which I adjusted the levels, I sharpen the leaves and
the trees, adjusted the contrast of the picture. After I
took out a log post that was in the original photo and
tried to blend the grass back together.

Brochure
Instructor: Ben Pingel
Course: Communications 130 Section 4
Date: 12/05/2015
Programs Used: InDesign, Illustrator,
Photoshop

Description: We were tasked to make a brochure

for a company. So I decide to make an offset brochure
for my local High School team the Moapa Valley Pirates
Baseball Team.

Objectives: Create an original, new logo and use it

in a brochure. Incorporate quality images. Incorporate
at least four quality images, not including the logo.
One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped
in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the
image. Write at least 250 words of original copy in at
least three paragraphs, headers, and subheaders.

Process: We used InDesign for the brochure

and used Photoshop to edited the pictures and finally I used Illustrator to make the logo on the front
page. There is a baseball camp put on by the High
School Baseball Team, in which it is inviting all little
leaguers to come and learn basic skills of baseball.

Course: Communications 130 Section 4
Date: 10/10/2015
Programs Used: Mircosoft Word
Description: We were assigned to create an

event ad for a foundation or company that would offer

something to the public or a targeted audience. It being
close to Halloween I decide to pick a famous Halloween
figure of Darth Vader.

Objectives: Find, scan and import a high-quality

image. Create a full-bleed design. Choose a color scheme

and typeface(s) that work for your message and audience.
Learn to use only Word design features without using any
Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process: The process in which we had to create this

event ad was instead of using InDesign from Adobe we

had to learn how to make an ad from Word Document. To
play around with color schemes to find an audience so I
decided to keep it simple and use primary colors in my
font. As well as we had to find a magazine and scan the
image in to use for the main picture of the ad.

Where: Porter Park

When: 31st October

See Darth Vader face to face!
