Flier
Description: A flier that is used to promote a graduate
leadership conference.
Date: 2 October 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Adobe Indesign
Objectives: Create a new flier to attract students to attend
the new Graduate Leadership Conference
Process: This was one of my four sketches that I created and
then used Adobe InDesign to put it together. I used to black
boxes to use as borders to show clearly when the flier begins
and when it ends. I used black, smaller lines to underline
the title and add repetition. I tried to pay attention and use
as much alignment as I could such as aligning all the text,
and the picture as well. I increased the word Conference to
emphasis that this flier is for a specific meeting and bolded
the time, date, and place

Montage
Description: A small pioneer girl next to a handcart. The
words are part of a verse from Come, Come, Ye Saints.
Date: 24 Oct 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Photoshop
Objectives: Take two photos and blend them together. Also
to have a spiritual theme.
Process: I began with a small sketch and an idea to capture
the Mormon pioneers. I pulled the photograph of the
handcart from online and was able to find a painting of the
small pioneer girl that I took and then proceeded to make
transparent. I changed the color to black and white and tried
my best to sharpen the handcart and the field while keeping
the girl soft and feathered. The words came from the hymn
Come, Come, Ye Saints about the pioneers making their
way to Zion.

Business Card
Description: A business card to promote the Good Egg
tutoring service.
Date: 8 Nov 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Illustrator
Objectives: Promote the Good Egg tutoring service.
Process: I started with Illustrator and completed a rough
sketch of the design. I used the rectangle tool and ellipse tool
to create the background and the egg shape. I used a yellow
line to separate the words and give contrast to the design. This
matched the color of the text. I tried to give variety to the text so
that way the title stood out more, so I changed the font type and
made the title bigger as well as add some kearning.

Stationery
Description: A letterhead to promote and support the Good Egg
tutoring service.
Date: 8 Nov 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Indesign and Illustrator
Objectives: To be able to design a professional letterhead.
Process: I started with Illustrator and completed a rough sketch
of the design. I used the rectangle tool and ellipse tool to create
the background and the egg shape. I used a yellow line to
separate the words and give contrast to the design. This matched
the color of the text. I tried to give variety to the text so that way
the title stood out more, so I changed the font type and made
the title bigger as well as add some kearning. On the letterhead
I dragged out the box and the line to connect the contact
information with the name of the company.

Brochure
Description: A brochure to promote the RMTC
Date: 5 Dec 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 150 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Objectives: To create a legible brochure that is also appealing to
help those who need to adjust from missionary life.
Process: I came up with the idea and began to sketch a logo
for the brochure. I wanted something simple that would really
stand out so I elongated the letters and wrapped a box around
it to bring out the text. I then created the panels by selecting
pictures and editing them in photoshop. I used the selection
tool to take out what I wanted to use and then placed them in
the brochure. I wrapped the text around the words to create a
more visually appealing layout. I also tried to add a tagline to
the back as well as a quote from a general authority to add their
approval.

Event Ad
Description: This ad is sponsoring a community baking event
for the homeless. At Marys Bakery they are baking loaves of
bread to donate to the homeless shelters.
Date: 10 Oct 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Microsoft Word
Objective: Create an ad to promote a chartiy and become decent
at design in word.
Process: I started by scanning a picture of bread from the
Ensign magazine and sketching out a design to use the bread
picture. I then uploaded it to Word and proceeded to draw 3 text
boxes for the information. I played around with the fonts and
the placements of the text boxes because I wanted to make sure
that the audience could see the words as well as capture their
focus on the picture.

Web Page
Description: A web page to show my logo and web page design.
Date: 21 Nov 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Notepad and Illustrator
Objective: Become proficient in web design and know how to
change color and add detail in CSS.
Process: I began with the logo that I designed in Illustrator
and placed it into my html. Then I gained the colors from my
logo and grabbed the hex numbers from it and change my
background and font colors to match my logo. I was able to
center the image in my web page by adding the display in my
CSS and changing the margins. I also changed the font types
to Arial black for the headers and Georgia for the body copy.
I changed the padding in my heading just a little that way
the words were more centered in the box. I tried my best to
compact the bullet points so it was easy to read.

Photodesign
Description: This photo demonstrates a desire to serve a
mission. It includes a nametag, the Book of Mormon, and a
mission ring. All these things signify the desire to go out and
serve the Lord.
Date: 18 Oct 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Photoshop
Objectives: Edit photos and be able to adjust color and
saturation. Promote love and expression of missionary work.
Process: I had an idea of what I wanted the photo to be like
and then made some sketches with that photo in mind. I
uploaded my picture to photoshop and tried from there to get
the right color and brightness. I wanted the nametag and Book
of Mormon to stand out. I then used complimentary colors for
the boxes, lines, and text to draw your attention back into the
picture. I used the line, rectangle, and text tools in order to
create the design.

Date: 1 Nov 2015
Course and Instructor: Comm 130 Section 4 Ben Pingel
Programs and tools: Illustrator
Objectives: Feel comfortable with designing in Illustrator and
promote Pass Back Foundation
Process: I started by coming up with different sketches and then
trying to use the sketch that displayed the font most clearly. I
used the ellipse tool to create the background and created a text
box within the shape. To add some contrast I switched the type of
font and the size. For repetition I added some arrows to the side
and switched up the colors for contrast.
