Purpose of this assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to (list learning outcomes):


LO 1:Understand learning theories and learning styles
To appreciate that all staff should be encouraged to develop their skills and knowledge to
achieve their potential and. in doing so, enable the organisation to meet its strategic objectives.
LO 2 & 3: Be able to plan and design training and development & Be able to evaluate a training
event
LO 4: Understand government-led skills development initiatives.

Scenario (For LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3):

You are an executive in a marketing firm and pursuing a business management programme for
your career advancement. You are hereby engaged in day to day learning process, both
professionally and in your personal life. Based on your personal and professional understanding
of learning, prepare the notes on the following.
Task 1

Compare different learning styles like activists, reflectors, theorists, pragmatists, (Honey and
Mumford 1986). Also discuss the prominent learning theories eg behaviorists, cognitive,
reinforcement, experiential, stimulus-response. (M1)
