MARCASE

MarCase, the flagship case study competition of the Marketing Club of IIM
Ranchi- Marquess in Agon, the management fest of IIM Ranchi was a huge
learning experience for all the marketing enthusiasts. The event comprised of a
preliminary online round and an on campus round. In the first round, the teams
were given a live case study, an actual business problem related to Polaris
India Pvt. Ltd. Many teams from top B-Schools around India participated in it and
after the first round seven teams got selected for the final round- 2 from XIMB, 1
from IIT Kharagpur, 1 from Great Lakes Institute of Management, 2 from IIM
Ranchi and 1 from Delhi School of Economics.
The final round was judged by the industry experts from Polaris, and they had a
very hard time in deciding the winner. After a lot of discussion, they finally came
to a decision.
The first prize was bagged by Team Winners(no surprise- they are made for this
title) and the second prize was jointly given to Nova Corps from XIMB and Great
Lakers from Great Lakes Institute of Management.
CONSTRATUM

IIM Ranchi on the second day of its Management Fest AGON launched Constratum,
which a unique competition of its kind. Constratum is the brain child of E-Cell, which is
the entrepreneurship club andSamarpan Club, which is the social responsibility club of
IIM Ranchi. The initial shortlisting rounds of the event saw a participation of 70 teams
from B-schools all over the country of which 6 teams made it to the on-campus final
round. The finalists were from two teams from SIBM Pune, and one team each from IIM
Ranchi, IMI Delhi and IIT Kharagpur and SIMS Pune.
The concept behind Constratum was encouraging Social Entrepreneurship, which is the
latest buzz word among budding entrepreneurs. Social Entrepreneurs are individuals
with innovative solutions to societys most pressing social problems. IIM Ranchi gave BSchool students a phenomenal opportunity to share their business plan with industry
stalwarts. The competition had a cash prize of INR 72,500 up for grabs by official
sponsors of the competition, 1000startups.com, Lakme Salon and Unitus Seed Fund.
The event was judged by the dynamic trio, Mr.Ravi Ranjan, Mr.Vikram Duggal and Mr.
Manish Harodia. Mr. Ravi Ranjan is an alumnus of St. Xaviers College with diverse
experience in Event Management, Media and Business Strategy. He is currently
managing Startup Warehouse Kolkata which is a part ofwww.1000startups.com which is
an initiative of NASSCOM.
Mr. Vikram Duggal who is an alumnus of MICA Ahmedabad, has over 16 years of
experience in setting up e-stores , Brand positioning and Media Buying & Planning. He is
currently a management consultant at Unitus Seed Fund.

Mr. Manish Harodia, an alumnus of IIM K, currently the director at DreamWallets, has
over 10 years of experience in Institution Building and Business Develoment. Prof.
Gaurav Marathe, alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, Faculty at IIM Ranchi, also chaired the
event as guest jury member.
The teams presented their ideas to the jury encompassing various genres, ranging from
cost effective recycling methods to sustainable ideas of saving energy. The 6 teams
faced stiff competition from each other as the winning team would have their venture
idea funded.
The winning team was from SIBM Pune. The team presented the idea of Cost effective
motorized wheelchair which was highly appreciated by the panel of judges. They also
received suggestions on how to improve their plan to maximize the benefits from it. The
runners up were Callamino from IIM Ranchi whose concept was on call medicines
delivery followed by SIMS Pune e-waste recycling.
BIZSIM by OPS
BIZSIM in association with TOPSIM (TATA interactive System) and Knowledge Partner
SCNext was successfully organised by Operations Club of IIM Ranchi at their
management festival Agon.
After initial online round of business strategy making five teams qualified for the second
real simulation round. Round 2 saw a tough battle among the teams. The round was
divided into four parts. Each part representing one year of business. After every part
analysis was done about the health of the business. This also helped the teams to keep
an eye on other competitors and their strategy. Brainstorming at its best was at display.
Well the event ended with the team from IMI Delhi winning the competition after a neck
to neck challenge by the team from IIM RANCHI, who secured the runners up position.
It was overall amazing for the participants to have hands on experience in solving real
business problem.
PLUTUS BY FINANCE CLUB

The most anticipated brain reckoning finance event PLUTUS15 has started by the
earnest welcome by Amaresh Krishna, the Finance Club Coordinator of IIM Ranchi. The
huddles of the students assembled at the prodigious event which provides a stand to
show their Business Valuation Analysis of a company. The sturdiest challenge in any
organization is to improve its performance by taking better decisions based on the
analysis of how the company has been performing. The contest was to come up with a
better Business Valuation of a company where the students from IIM Khozikode, IIM
Ranchi, XIMB, JBIMS and Great Lakes Institute of Management have participated.
The first round of todays event PLUTUS15 was a case study which tests the Business
Valuation skills of the students. Team Finesse from IIM Khozikode , Team AGM &Co
from IIM Ranchi Team Cash Cows from XIMB, Team Pareto Efficient from IIM Ranchi,
Team Number Crunchers from Great Lakes Institute of Management, and Team

Seeking Alpha from JBIMS were shortlisted after the online round. In Round 2 the teams
had to present a Business Valuation plan about a company of their choice in front of the
honored guests Mr. Sandip Sabharwal, (IIT Delhi and IIM-B Alumnus) CEO & CIO
Portfolio Management Services of Prabhudas Lilladher and Dr. N.Sivasankaran,
Assistant Prof. IIM Ranchi. After a thorough deliberation of the presentations by the
students, Team AGM & Co from IIM Ranchi and Team Number Crunchers from
Great Lakes Institute of Management were awarded the first position withTeam
Seeking Alpha from JBIMS standing in the third position.
SYMVOLOUS BY CONSULTING CLUB
A live business problem that demands a complete solution on the lines of change in
strategy of the company is here. The more promising and cost-effective the solution is,
the better are the chances of winning. Coming directly from a company, the solutions will
find real world implementation and bring laurels too. Here comes the event
SYMVOLOUS.
Symvolous was the flagship event organised by the consulting club of IIM Ranchi. The
first round consisted of an online business quiz and a one page write up on one of the
following topics1.

SWOT analysis of Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd.

Industry analysis of Rail transportation and Locomotive Equipment Manufacturing
companies in India
Many teams, each consisting of 2-3 members, from top B- schools like IIM-K, IIM- C, etc.
participated. Out of 70-80 entries, 4 teams were selected finally after the first round- 2
teams from IIM Ranchi, one each from SCMHRD Pune and NMIMS Bangalore.
The event was sponsored by Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd. and the cash prize was
worth Rs. 50000. In the final round the team were required to give a live case study
presentation regarding the major challenges faced by Medha Servo and the entry
strategy for Medha Servo with respect to industry (manufacturing and supplying
equipments) market.
With equally talented and creative teams competing for the tag, it was really difficult for
the jury comprising of Mr. Lalit Goel, GM, Marketing, Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd. and
Professor Rohit, to come to a decision.
But finally the results came. The winner was team Kia from IIM Ranchi, first runner up
was team Gupta-G from IIM Ranchi and the second runner up was Illuminati from
NMIMS Bangalore.
TERRA NULLIUSBY LITERARY CLUB

Debate is bloodsport, where words are weapons. And thus began Terra Nullius, the
debate competition organized by The Literary Club, IIMR. The participants ranged from
institutes such as XISS, SIMS and NIAM, Jaipur, as well as the IIMR crows. And with
topics ranging from the concrete to the abstract, our speakers waged war with words.
The judges, Mr. Nagesh Jha, Dy GM, HEC Ranchi, and Prof Tanushree Dutta,
Chairperson, PGDHRM, IIMR, had a tough time choosing the winners, but the event
ended with Sahaj and Aditya Bansal of IIMR taking home the first prize of Rs. 12000,
with Madhushree Ayala and Piyush Jain winning Rs. 8000. And a quick shoutout to our
special guest for the evening, Prasoon, a third standard student from DPS, Ranchi who
attended and participated in the entire debate.
VORSTAND BY HR CLUB
The most awaited War of the Business Brains started on 3 rd Oct 2015 at IIM Ranchis
management festival Agon. Vorstand 2.0. , the flagship event of IIM Ranchi HR Club
provided a platform for management students to arrive at innovative solutions to critical
problems faced by organisations today through case study analysis by simulating the
board room meetings. Organizations today are eagerly waiting for polished managers to
arrive and storm their board rooms with innovative ideas and their intellectual insights.
This is the thought behind Vorstand- a place where management students enter the
corporate world with real industry problem in hand and their challenge is to convince the
Board of Directors.
The first round included a case study with a business case from the field of Human
Resources to test the business acumen, domain knowledge, analytical and presentation
skills of the participants. Five team were shortlisted after an intensive Round 1. The
shortlisted teams were Blitzkrieg from XIMB, Illuminati from NMIMS Bangalore, XLers
from XLRI, Aegis and College Goers from IIM Ranchi. In Round 2 the shortlisted team
were provided with live business case study from Sun Pharma based on retention
strategy and career development programme which they had to present in front of
esteemed judges- Mr Rajeev Gupta, DGM Corporate Relations and Mr. B.M. Dalgade,
Senior Manager from JSW Steel Ltd. Ms. Nagarjuna Dhema was our corporate guest
from Sun Pharma. After much contemplation the two teams who made it to the finals
were Aegis from IIM Ranchi and Illuminati from NMIMS Bangalore.
Before the final round, a problem statement was given with respect to the live case study
which was discussed in a simulated boardroom. Each team included two Consultants
and one Compensation and Benefit Manager and the judges were the Board of
Directors. After much contemplation and brainstorming sessions Illuminati by NMIMS
Bangalore was declared as the winners and Aegisfrom IIM Ranchi were the Runners
Up.
