Background of the Director

Direk Paulo Edrinal Tesico was born on September 15, 1982, and he was

married to Ruthiane Tesico. He once studied in this school - University of Batangas. He

took up Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. He is now working at The Light
Cinema as HPO. And he currently has an Indie Film Ligaw he was the director,
screenwriter, film editor, color grade supervisor, sound designer and cinematography in
this indie film.

A.

Characters
Major
Criselle (Melissa Ricks) she is the daughter of Eleonor. She experienced
being maltreated by her fake mother (Inyang). She was raised by her
grandmother to be a weak person and she became hopeless. And at the age of

9, she was raped by her uncle which she believed that they are her brothers.
Inyang (Eva Darren) she was the mother of Eleonor and the grandmother of
Criselle and wife of Seryo, she pretended to be Criselles mother. She was very
kind and good mother but after eleonor became pregnant and stopped on her
studies, Inyang became very angry with her daughter. She abandoned eleonor

and became evil mother to Criselle.

Seryo (Crispin Pineda) he is the father of Eleonor, wife of Inyang and he
pretended as the father of Criselle. He is lovable, attentive and very caring father,
like Inyang he was carried away by his anger because of his rebellious daughter
who became pregnant. He lost his big dream for his daughter and he had a crisis
on his business. He always followed his wife but sometimes, his kind heart for his
granddaughter come out first.

Marry Ann (Hiyasmin Neri) she is the close friend and cousin of Criselle. She
is very cheerful and very caring friend. She always ready to lean her shoulders to
Criselle and through God she serves as the light of Criselle when Criselle was

under the darkness of life.

Rommel (Zeppi Borromeo) he is the brother of eleonor and uncle of Criselle
but pretended to be criselles brother. Because of his manipulation and high
imagination it led him to rape criselle. And because of blindness of his doings he
will be used by an evil to be an instrument to destroy other lives.

B.

Minor
Jun (DM Sevilla) he is handsome, kind and lovable. He owns the posohang
igiban ng nayon. He fell in love with criselle which he believed that criselle also

loved him. He is the first guy that criselle used to destroy other lives.
Rodel (Rico Barrera) he is bad boy, leader of fraternity and a drug user. He
has debt on Rommel and as a payment for it, Rommel commanded him to scare

Criselle. And he planned to raped and kill criselle.

Teresa (Cynthia Macaraig) mother of Marry ann and jun-jun and younger
sister of Inyang. She very lovable auntie to criselle. Her caring for criselle is
because of compassion to her. She is very close to God thats why she always

thinking about the happiness of a family.

PTR. Jess ( Nanding Josef) he is full of kindness. He boldly fights against
darkness using the power of God. He used by God as an instruments to gave
freedom to Criselle. No matter how powerful the evil who controlling criselle, he

still believing that God is more powerful than that evil.

Jun Jun (Jude Matthew Servilla) he is the younger brother of Marry Ann and
a cousin of Criselle. He helped his sister marry ann to give light to criselle.
Eleonor (Nene Tamayo) she is the daughter of Inyang and seryo. She grew up
with somewhat higher family in baryo with the full love from her parents. She has

a big dream on his life, she want to become lawyer. But all of the sudden she lost
her dreams because she was raped by her uncle Celso, the younger brother of
her father Seryo. She experienced hardship on her entire life.
Rudy and Miguel (Darren Esmade and Jolo Atienza) they are the brother of
Eleonor. Rommel influenced them to followed him in rapping Criselle.
III.

Summary
The Indie Film ligaw started with the family of eleonor talking about their dreams

after Eleonor finish her studies. But those dreams disappeared because eleonor
became pregnant. And it is the start of Criselles complicated life.
Inyang, mother of eleonor became very angry with the lost of her dreams for her
family specially for her daughter and she removed eleonor on her life. After gving birth
to Criselle, eleonor leave her daughter to her parents because she decided to fimd a job
in other places. A year passed by it seems that eleonor dont have any intention to get
her daughter thats why inyang and ka seryo pretended to be Criselles Parents. At a
very young age criselle experienced physical abuse from her grandmother inyang. And
at the age of 9, she was harassed and and experienced sexual abuse from her uncle
Rommel, Miguel and rudy, which she knew that they are her brothers. And then she met
her cousin jun jun and marry ann who became her happiness.
When Criselle grew up and became women her real mother eleonor went back,
begging her father seryo to help her. In this scene eleonor met her daughter and this is
the start of rebellious life of Criselle. Crselle became very angry and want to revenge to
her family because of keeping her real mother. And she is thinking that she didnt

deserve all the abuses that she got. Then she met an evil, who pushing her to kill her
family. Because of the influence of evil, she used other people to destroy other peoples
life. And because of marry ann, jun jun and pastor jess she got back her faith in God anf
she learned forgiveness. And in the end they became united famly.

IV.

Values

Faith in God
The characters who depicted this value are Marry Ann, Criselle and Rommel.
When Marry Ann discovered that Criselle is under the influence of evil power she went
to God and begging for help. Criselle felt God when the evil take revenge to criselle
because of criselles promise to kill her family that she didnt succeeded, then theres a
light opens up to criselle which it is the presence of God. And from then, criselle started
to believe on God again. And Rommel felt the presence of God when he realized that he
already doing an evil thing. And she went to Pastor Jess to have forgiveness from God.
V.

Conflict
Man vs Man
It happened when Criselle fought her brother Rommel in revenge for what Rommel
did to her.

Man vs Himself

When Criselle started to saw an evil presence which I think it was a psychologically
and mentally problem for her. And because of that she always thinking on killing her
family and destroys other lives.

Man vs Society

When Criselle started to destroy other life, she made a step for Jun to fall in love
with her. And the people around them made story behind them. Because of that Criselle
became on enemy in the eye of the other people.

Man vs God
Criselles faith in God was gone when she knew about her real mother and she

remembered all the insults and hardship that she experienced on the hand of Inyang
which gave her an instinct to take revenge to them. In this situation Criselle was tested
and she became an ally of evil.

VI.

Implications/Relevance
After watching this Indie Film Ligaw I realized that I am very lucky to the life that I
have right now. I have a complete and happy family although sometimes we struggle
because of money. And as a student, I am very lucky because I have a chance to finish
my studies that Criselles was lacked on. And I am very thankful to God for everything I
have right now.
This Film is worth watching because of the different lessons that can give us. A
lessons for family, society, God and for you himself.

VII.

Over-all reaction

This indie film Ligaw was well presented but I think it was much exaggerated for a
true story movie I mean having a demon like that I cant Imagine. This movie was very
shocking and intense one. But over-all it was really good movie, it reflect the life of a
women who struggle and fell in evil power but learned to stand and fought and specially
she learned to get back her faith in God.
