Money Supply:

Total stock of money held by public.

Public- Households, firms, local authorities, NBFI, Non departmental Public sector
undertaking HMT, BHEL.
The term public excludes- central government, reserve bank of India and the
commercial banks.
Economist define money supply in two ways
(a) Narrow definition of money supply (M1)
(b) Broader definition of money supply (M2)
Narrow money supply: assets included in this definition of money supply are:
a) Currency, b) Demand deposits with the banks.
M1 =
M1 = Narrow definition of money supply; C= Currency, DD= Demand deposits
Broader money supply: Developed by Milten Freedom of Chicago School
of Economics
Broad money supply includes currency with the public, demand deposits and
time deposits with the banks.
M2 =
C= Currency with public; DD= Demand deposits; TD= Time deposit.

RBI MEASURES OF MONEY SUPPLY: RBI has four alternative measures of


money supply- M1, M2, M3, and M4
The measures of money supply adopted by RBI are as follows
M1= Currency with the public + demand deposit with the banking system + other
deposits with the RBI.
M2= M1+ Time deposit with the banking system
M3= Net bank credit to the Government + Bank Credit to the commercial Sector
+ Net foreign exchange assets of the banking sector + Governments currency
liabilities to the public Net non-monetary liabilities of the banking sector.
M4= M3+ All deposits with post office saving banks (Excluding National Saving
Certificates)

Long range surface to air missile (LRSAM)


It is jointly designed and developed by Israel Aerospace Industries and DRDO,
has been successfully flight testes from an Israeli naval Platform.

The missile successfully engaged and destroyed the meaning air target.
All the subsystem of the missile performed as predicted and achieved the
desired goal of heating meaning target.
Further operational Flight trials (O.F.T) will be conducted shortly from
Indian Naval Platform before induction into the service.

About the missile

LRSAM is also called Basak 8 missile in Israel which in Hebrew language


means Lightening.
The missile configuration is same for both LRSAM/NRSAM
For the LRSAM, DRDO has designed and developed Dual Pulse Propulsion
System and other safe xyz mechanism for solid propulsion system.
The missile is designed to defend against any type of airborne threat
including aircraft, helicopters, anti-slup missiles and UAVs as well as cruise
missiles and combat jets
Both maritime and land based versions of the system exist.

The LRSAM programme consist of missiles, MFSTR (Radar), Weapon control


system, Vertical launcher unit and Two-way data link.
