10 COMMANDMENTS OF COMPUTER
1. Thou shall not use the computer to harm other people an
example for this is that sending virus in order to hack personal
information and exposing it to others. Just like posting something harsh
to someone like My friend is very ugly and fat and always smells bad
or our class president is not good enough to become a leader. He
sucks! What would be the reaction of other people for this post? It is
sure that many people would be mad to that person for posting that
message which is very bad for someones feeling. This is an example
of the first commandment.
2. Thou shall not interfere with other peoples computer work an
example for this is deleting friends essay document or very important
files and saying I was just playing. Never open a file of others to delete
or tamper that file and say to others that I was just playing this game or
I was just watching something until you deny that you didnt do
anything in his/her file.
3. Thou shall not snoop around in other peoples computer files an
example for this commandment is looking for students grade or very
important files from the teachers computer. Never use a computer for
sneaking a secret files or important documents from other people. It
makes some instances like changing a good file into a bad file just like
you saw a file in your teachers computer. You opened it. Then what
you did is you change someones grade from a failing grade into a
passing grade without noticing or without informing the teacher to
change that grade. Another example is that you opened your friends
secret file in his computer. You saw his own picture their. What you did
is you draw something funny or making pranks to him. Your friend saw
it and his reaction is that he is always ignoring you because of what
you did in his picture.

4. Thou shall not use a computer to steal an example for this

commandment is taking someones information or idea without any
approval. Using a computer to break into the accounts of a company or
a bank and transferring money should be judged the same way as
robbery. It is illegal and there are strict laws against it.
5. Thou shall not use a computer to bear false witness An example
for this is posting like He or she did without any proven evidence.
The Internet can spread untruth as fast as it can spread truth. Putting out false
"information" to the world is bad. For instance, spreading false rumors
about a person or false propaganda about historical events is wrong.
Just like posting that This artist is now dead. But in reality, he or she
is still alive. That is an example of this commandment.
6. Thou shall not copy or use proprietary software for which you
have not paid An example for this is cracking a demo program and
using it forever. Software is an intellectual product. In that way, it is like
a book: Obtaining illegal copies of copyrighted software is as bad as
photocopying a copyrighted book. There are laws against both.
Information about the copyright owner can be embedded by a process
called watermarking into pictures in the digital format.
7. Thou shall not use other peoples computer resources without
any authorization or proper compensation An example for this is
using any sites information and publishing a book without the source to
earn benefit. Multi-user systems use user ids and passwords to
enforce their memory and time allocations, and to safeguard
information.

You should not try to bypass this authorization

system. Hacking a system to break and bypass the authorization is

unethical.
8. Thou shall not appropriate other peoples intellectual output. An
example for this is posting new movie or the latest movie that just came
out on Youtube. For example, the programs you write for the projects
assigned in this course are your own intellectual output. Copying
somebody elses program without proper authorization is software
piracy and is unethical. Intellectual property is a form of ownership,
and may be protected by copyright laws.

9. Thou shall not think about the social consequences of the

program you are writing or the system you are designing An
example for this is making a program to spy on other peoples
computer. You have to think about computer issues in a more general
social framework: Can the program you write be used in a way that is
harmful to society? For example, if you are working for an animation
house, and are producing animated films for children, you are
responsible for their contents.
10. Thou shall use a computer in ways that insure consideration for
your fellow humans An example for this is chatting someone using
curse or bad words. Learn to respect others not only in the computer,
but also in real life.
