Building Bridges

While making
a yarn doll.
Mommy,
sometimes its
hard for me
to be around
Kimberly.

Sometimes she says

unkind things.

Why is that,
Sarah? I thought
she was your
friend

Honey,
I dont think
Kimberly purposely
says things like that
to be mean.

My blouse
is much prettier
than yours.

But sometimes
the things she says
make me feel bad.

Well, part
of showing love
to others is forgiving
them when they do
things that
hurt you.

We can pray
and ask Jesus
to help you in your
interactions with
Kimberly.

Forgiveness
is love.

For if you forgive men their

trespasses, your heavenly
Father will also forgive you.

Jesus, please give

Sarah wisdom for how
to handle this with her
friend, Kimberly.

Thank You,
Jesus, that Kimberly
is my friend!

And thank You

for how You can help
me forgive Kimberly and
not feel sensitive about
what she said.

Matthew 6:14 AKJV

When we prayed
I was reminded that
Kimberlys dad is away
for two weeks on a
business trip.

Because you
asked Jesus for help,
He was able to show you
how important it is to be
patient with Kimberly.

Maybe we
can do something
that would make
Kimberly happy when
shes missing
her daddy.

Thats a
wonderful idea,
honey!

Daddy said
that one way to
help bear someones
burden is to pray
for them.

Jesus, please help

me think more about
others needs.

Please make
Kimberly happy and
help her not miss her
daddy too much.

Help me
do my part to
help Kim, too.

Kimberlys
home.

I wish Daddy
were here, so
he could play
with me.

Kim, I know
you miss Daddy.
I do too.

There is no
one for me to
play with.

Daddy is a
lot of fun to
be with!
We could
invite Sarah
over.

Hmm.

Do you
remember what we
read about building
bridges?

I dont think
Sarah likes doing
things with me.

People
are lonely

because
they build
walls around
themselves

Have you been

considerate and sweet
to Sarah when youre
with her?

instead of bridges
to reach others.

Ive noticed that

sometimes when you are
with Sarah you talk a lot
about yourself.

For example, last night when we joined

them for dinner you talked about how
well you do with the hula hoop.

Sarah has a hard time

with the hula hoop.
I can keep
the hula hoop
going for five
minutes!

It would have been kinder

to talk about something
that Sarah enjoys too.

Is thinking
too much about
myself and not about
Sarah like building
a wall around
myself?

But Jesus
can help
you build
a bridge
to Sarah
so you can
become
better
friends.

Yes, in this
case it was. Your
bragging made
Sarah feel bad.

Would you like to ask

Jesus to help you do that?

Jesus, thank
You for my friend,
Sarah.

Please help
me be a considerate
friend to her.

Thank You
for the help You
give us to show more
concern for others.
Please help Kimberly
repair her friendship
with Sarah.

Thank You,
Jesus, for helping
me with this.

When you are with Sarah,

ask Jesus to help you
see her as He does...

through the
eyes of love.

Later.

Thank You,
Jesus, for showing me how to love
my friend!

Thank You,
Jesus, for helping
me to make Kim
happier.

And as you would that men should do to you, do you

also to them likewise.
For if you love them which love you, what thank have
you? For sinners also love those that love them.
And if you do good to them which do good to you, what
thank have you? For sinners also do even the same.
And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive,
what thank have you? For sinners also lend to sinners,
to receive as much again.
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping
for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and
you shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind
to the unthankful and to the evil.
Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is
merciful. 3

Sarah and her brother, Danny.

Danny, I
need that piece
for my house.

But Im
using it!

Luke 6:3136 AKJV

Remember to
be kind, giving
preference to each
other. Then you will
enjoy playing
together.

Remember what
Romans 12:10 says?

Be kindly
affectionate
one to another with
brotherly love; in
honor preferring
one another
(AKJV).

Very good. Maybe

you could pray together
before continuing with
your playtime.

Jesus, thank
You for my brother
Danny who I can
play with.
Please help
us to prefer one
another other
while we play.

Here, Sarah,
you can have
this piece.

Give, and it shall

be given to you;
good measure,
pressed down, and
shaken together,
and running over,
shall men give
into your bosom.

Its okay,
Danny. You can
keep that piece.
You need it more
for your boat.

For with the same

measure that you
mete with it shall
be measured to
you again.4

I found a
different piece
for my house.

Luke 6:38 AKJV

The next day.

I enjoy it
when our children
show concern for
each other.

Its okay,
Sarah, Ill sweep
the floor.

Me too!

Sarah, Danny, and

Kimberly have
learned more
about how to show
loving concern and
appreciation for
one another.

Love one
another!3

In three places
in the Gospel of
John, Jesus tells
us to love one
another. See if you
can find where.5

Apostles Paul,
Peter, and John
also remind us
many times in the
Epistles to love
one another,
which means to
show concern,
appreciation, and
care for each
other. 6

Thessalonians 4:9b; 1
Peter 1:22b; 1 John 3:11,

John 5.
