Obiectivele disciplinei
1. understanding notions of surgical pathology and principles of surgical therapy.
2. patients examination
3. interpretation of laboratory data and functional evaluations
4. interpretation of medical imaging (ultrasound scan, standard radiology, MRI, CT scan)
5. recognition of major signs and symptoms for surgical diseases, building up a syndrome,
formulation of a diagnostic, diferential diagnostic.

1. Surgical pathology of the breast: benign pathology (acute and chronic inflammation of the breast,
displastic disorders, and tumors); malignant diseases of the breast (breast cancer: diagnostic,
staging, place of surgery in the multimodal therapy).
2. Surgical diseases of thyroid and parathyroid glands.
3.Abdominal trauma acute traumatic abdomen
4. Digestive bleeding upper and lower digestive bleeding, etiology, diagnostic and treatment.
5.Surgical diseases of the esophagus: gastro esophageal reflux disease, motility disorders,
diverticuli, trauma, benign and malignant tumors
6.Diseases of the mediastinum (the mediastinal syndrome, mediastinitis, tumors)
7.Surgical pathology of the stomach complicated gastro duodenal ulcer, acute and chronic
complications, indications and surgical treatment options; postoperative ulcer, surgical aspects
related to the pathology associated with gastric resections, tumors of the stomach (benign and
malignant).
8. Surgical pathology of the liver- abscesses, hidatyd cyst, benign and malignant tumors.
9. Portal hypertension: etiology, pathogeny, diagnostic, therapy.
10. Surgical pathology of extrahepatic bile ducts - congenital diseases, billiary stones (gallbladder
and common bile duct stones), surgical aspects of gallbladder motility disorders, nonlithiasis
colecystitis, sclerosing cholangitis, benign and malignant tumors; etiologic diagnostic and treatment
of obstructed jaundice.
11. Surgical pathology of the pancreas pancreatic trauma, acute and chronic pancreatitis,
pancreatic pseudocysts, benign and malignant tumors of the pancreas.
12. Surgical pathology of the spleen: trauma, torsion, aneurisms, abscesses, tumors, hypersplenism,
indications for splenectomy.
13. Surgical pathology of small bowel and mesentery: Meckel diverticulum, benign and malignant
tumors, Crohn disease, ileo-cecal tuberculosis, necrotizing enteritis.
14. Surgical pathology of the colon: megacolon, dolicocolon, volvulus, ulcerative colitis, diverticuli,
colonic polyps, benign and malignant tumors.
15. Surgical pathology of the apendix acute and chronic appendicitis, appendicle tumors.
16. Surgical pathology of the rectum: rectal prolaps, bening and malignant tumors
17. Surgical pathology of the anum: hemorrhoids, fissures, supurative disorders, pilonidal fistula,

18. Non-traumatic acute abdomen: acute peritonitis, intestinal obstructions, mesenteric infarction.
Compartment syndrome. Diseases of the peritoneum: postoperative adhesions; tumors of the
peritoneum
19. Surgical pathology of the retroperitoneal space: retroperitoneal tumors, surgical pathology of
adrenal glands.
20. Surgical aspects of metabolic diseases: morbid obesity. Iatrogeny in surgery: incidence,
prevention, diagnostic and treatment.
