Security Positions Available

Wallace Hills and Indian Brook Locations


Shift work position available Temporary Position on contract basis.
General Description:

This position works under the direction of the Security Manager. The Security person is responsible for
security and surveillance of the facility located in Hammons Plains. This position is scheduled to work
seven (7) days a week, every week of the year on a rotating shift basis. While the daily shift begins at
or near dusk, the exact time is to be established by the Security Manager and will vary by season. The
exact time of the end of the shift will again be established by the Security Manager and will also vary
by season.

Specific Accountabilities:

Must have reliable transportation for shift-work.
Observe the conditions and circumstances of facility and the surrounding property.
Maintain a log of surveillance activities and observations and report to manager.
In the event that activities are observed or in progress that are dangerous to public safety or are
threatening or damaging to band-owned properties, proceed as follows:

o Call for the assistance of the police or other emergency response personnel as appropriate.

o Notify persons in the immediate area whose safety may be threatened of the nature of the
emergency and recommend action for them to take.

o Remain at the site, if appropriate, to provide information or assistance to the emergency
response personnel if required.

o Take written notes regarding the nature and circumstances of the event and names of
persons in the area who have involvement in the event either as a participant, witness or
bystander.

o Prepare a written report regarding the nature of the event and circumstances surrounding the
event including dates, times, locations and parties involved (either as perpetrators, observers
or bystanders) to submit to the office.

o In the event that security/night watch personnel discover evidence of acts of vandalism,
damage, theft or break-in to band-owned properties but do not witness the event, proceed as
follows:

o Give notification to the police if appropriate.

o Take written notes regarding the nature and circumstances of the event, when and
how the discovery was made, the extent and nature of any damage. Attempt to
establish the time the event took place by discovering the last time the site was
viewed with no damage.

o Give notification to the parties that operate or use the property or facility,
particularly if the damage has resulted in a hazard to the security of the premises or
individuals.

o Prepare a written report regarding the nature of and circumstances surrounding the
event including dates, times, locations and other pertinent data to submit.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer applications
Sipeknekatik Band member
Sound judgment, tact, diplomacy and decision making skills
Must pass a child abuse records check

*If it is deemed that all qualifications are equal, preference will be given to registered persons of
Aboriginal descent. Pay is to be negotiated and set forth by chief and council and successful
applicants are subject to a three (3) month review*
