Eurydicebackintotheworld.Theoperaiswritteninfiveactsandrunsforapproximatelytwo
hoursonaverage.Theinstrumentationisasfollows:fourviolins,fourviolas,twocellos,two

almostexclusiveuseofthestringsandrecorders.However,whenOrpheusisintheunderworld
andHades,lordoftheunderworldisonstage,Monteverdimakesheavyuseofthebrasstogivea
dark,scary,andedgyfeelingtothescore.
