A) What is the location of the nearest fire alarm to Agnes Arnold Auditorium No. 2?
The nearest fire alarm to AAA2 is located right outside the doors on the right side.
B) What is the location of the nearest fire extinguisher to Agnes Arnold Auditorium
No. 2?
The fire extinguisher is located in the back of the auditorium to the left
C) What is the location of the nearest defibrillator to Agnes Arnold Auditorium No.

Problem 2:
What is the primary physical phenomenon that causes plate tectonics? Do
petroleum engineers care? Why or why not?
The physical phenomenon that causes plate tectonics is know as convention
currents in the mantle.
Petroleum engineers care about the movement of plate tectonics, because seeing
which plates where together at one time, allows them to form an idea of where
else they may find similar reservoir rock located at a certain project site.
Problem 3:
Write the geological eras from memory with correct spelling.
Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic, Precambrian
Write the periods in the Mesozoic era with correct spelling. Why is this era
especially important to petroleum engineers?
Cretaceous, Jurassic, Triassic
The Mesozoic era is important to petroleum engineers because it is the era in
which it is believed that most reservoirs where formed.
Do petroleum engineers care about Pre-Cambrian rocks? Why or why not?
Yes because petroleum engineers care about the sediments from eroded igneous
rocks found in the Pre-Cambrian era that become integrated with newer rocks due
to the rock cycle.

Problem 4:
Identify the four primary types of sedimentary rocks that can impact a reservoir
and identify the roles of these rock types. Short answers are sufficient.
Sandstone A clastic sedimentary rock which is composed of many small
particles of other rocks, good reservoir rock due to porosity and permeability

1.

Shale A clastic sedimentary rock which serves as a seal due to its very poor
porosity and permeability. It can also be used as source and reservoir rock, but
that requires other methods such as hydraulic fracking.

Carbonate A non clastic sedimentary rock which composed of fossils from once
living organisms, this makes a good reservoir rock because it has a good pourous
structure.

Salt An evaporative rock that acts as a seal because of its poor porosity and
permeability, but it tends to help in the process of forming traps.
