Place Value Cards

These cards are used for games which teach place value and comparing numbers.
Use the cards which best suit the needs of the children.
For example to practice place value to 3 digits or comparing numbers with 3 digits use
ones, tens and hundreds cards.
To practice comparing decimals numbers to 3 places used tenths, hundredths and
thousandths cards.

Preparing the Place Value Cards

Print the cards that you require, printing each set on a different colored stock card. Cut
into cards and laminate if desired. If several players or teams are playing it may be
necessary to use 2 copies of each set.

Games to Play With Place Value Cards

These games can be played with 2-4 players or teams.

HIGHEST NUMBER
Using the appropriate cards turn all cards face down.
Players each select one card of each color and then arrange their cards in the correct
order to form a number. The player with the largest number is the winner.
E.g. Player 1 would be the winner in each game.

CLOSEST TO ...
Before starting this game choose a number to be aimed for. The winner will be the
player who creates a number closest to this number.
For example if playing with 4 digit numbers the chosen number could be 7500. The
player who creates the closest number to 7500 is the winner.
If playing with 3 decimal places the chosen number could be 0.4 or 0.753. The player
whose number is closest to the chosen number will be the winner.
E.g. Player 1 would be the winner in each game.
