Exercise12.1

Deploying the Windows Intune Client

Overview

In this exercise, you will deploy the Windows Intune client to


your local computer or a virtual machine that is running
Windows 8.1 and has access to the Internet. If you are using
MOAC Labs Online, you will not be able to perform this lab
using an online computer. Instead, you will need use a computer
running Windows 8 with access to the Internet. If your
classroom has a dedicated Windows Server 2012 R2 for each
user, you can use a virtual machine running Windows 8.1.

Mindset

Windows Intune is a cloud-based service provided by Microsoft


that allows you to manage clients within your organization,
including deploying updates.

Exercise 12.2

Creating a Device Group Using Direct


Membership

Overview

In this exercise, you will create a Windows Intune group that


will be used to organize your resources.

Mindset

As you can do with Active Directory groups, you can assign


devices to groups and then apply updates directly to a group.

Exercise 12.3

Managing Updates with Windows Intune

Overview

In this exercise, you will approve updates for Windows Intune


clients.

Mindset

Similar to deploying updates with WSUS, you can deploy


updates with Windows Intune. By controlling which updates are
deployed and when they're deployed, you can test updates
before they are deployed.

Running Intune Reports

Overview

In this exercise, you will run update reports for Windows Intune
clients, showing which updates have been selected to be
deployed and which updates have been actually deployed.

Mindset

Windows Intune provides multiple reports that allow you to


view the status of client devices, including updates.

Overview

Overview

client software by using the Control Panel.

Portal

Overview

To complete this challenge, you must demonstrate how to


customize the Intune Company Portal.

Mindset

You are an administrator for the Contoso Corporation. You want


to customize the Company Portal so that users know where to
get help with computer-related issues. Specify the steps
necessary to configure the Company Portal so that a support
website URL will be displayed.

Completion time

10 minutes

Write out the steps you performed to complete the challenge. When you have
