INTRODUCTION
The gap in terms of infrastructural development between the first and third
world nations is large and many believe that that gap in terms of number of
years is 100 years minimum. This deficit in infrastructure shows that quality
of life/life expectancy is much less in the third world but it also presents a
great opportunity for development which must be spearheaded by civil
engineering firms. The main challenge for Nigeria therefore, is not whether
there is room for development but whether we have enough engineering
firms to meet our infrastructural needs, the chart below shows the difference
in infrastructural development.

MOTIVATION
At Hamza Bello Partners (HBP) we plan to have a niche in providing
innovative and advanced solutions to a variety of engineering problems. As
an engineering consultancy we will specialize mainly in the design analysis
and maintenance of buildings, bridges, tunnels, masts and towers. We plan
to use cutting edge technology to produce iconic landmark designs, part of

our long term plan is to win a structural award from the institution of
structural engineers, UK.
Usually complex projects are given to foreign firms to design and execute,
we plan to reverse this trend by developing our competencies to world
standard and winning international contracts.

TARGET CUSTOMERS
Our target customers includes:

Civil Engineering Firms requiring specialist services like design of

complex structures.
Architectural firms especially those providing ambitious designs.
International consultancy firms that require competent services of local
partners.
International organizations like the World bank, USAID etc.
Government agencies.
Real estate developers.
Oil and gas industry.

NEED FOR OUR SERVICES

In Nigeria, complex innovative projects like the Tinapa business and leisure
resort, Calabar and the Eko Atlantic city in Lagos were designed by Ove Arup
and Haskoning DHV respectively, both European firms with the special skills
required to create innovative engineering solutions to our infrastructural
problems, projects similar to the aforementioned are awarded to foreign
firms because our indigenous firms lack the knowledge, skills, capacity and
tools to provide engineering solutions to our infrastructural problems as
shown in the pie chart below. Unfortunately even after the completion of
these projects there is no knowledge or technology transfer making us to still
seek the services of foreign firms whenever we need to build infrastructure.

INTERNATIONAL FIRMS

LOCAL FIRMS

With innovative and competent indigenous firms, the Nation will save
precious foreign exchange (considering dwindling oil prices), develop and
empower indigenous firms, improve national productivity through human
capacity development, increased infrastructural development due to savings
and earning foreign exchange by providing these services to neighboring
countries.
At HBP we see a huge opportunity to fill this vacuum and in the medium term
create partnerships with fellow indigenous firms with to increase our
competencies and expand our services.
