ABSTRACT

Nowadays each and every commercial buildings requires an efficient air

conditioning system. Its basically used for several purposes such as Maintain
suitable humidity in all parts of a building , Supply a constant and adequate supply
of ventilation , Efficiently remove from the air micro-organisms, dust, soot, and
other foreign bodies , Efficiently cool room air during certain seasons etc. In our
project, we have decided to perform a research study on how an air conditioning
system works, what are its components, design, processes and the further
modifications. This project is basically a field project, we will collect our data
regarding the same from the chiller plant situated in our campus. From the
collected data, we would know about the design and types of various components.
Then, we will do further calculations on the same data and compare the values with
different designs of components, which will let us know about the working
efficiency of the system. Basically, our aim of this project is to acquire complete
knowledge about working of an air conditioning system and to implement it
practically as well as theoretically.

INTRODUCTION
Through our project, we will study about the functioning of air conditioning
system in any building. Its like a case study in real life. Our aim is to acquire the
full proof knowledge of each components and parts used in AC systems and to
know, how the hot air from outside is converted to cold air? By which process? On
which mechanism? How the flow process of AC system is done?
We will study the design of each and every components. Also, we will note the
temperature and pressure of water and refrigerant in each part of the system. Its
like to do survey of buildings air conditioning system. After, knowing the whole
mechanism and process behind the system, we may further work for the limitations
and further upgradation of the system.
We will also design the components in design software, in order to get accurate
results and to collect different values of dimensions of each components like ducts
or valves. This project will consists both of practical and theoretical analysis, as we
will perform sample collection and theoretical calculations.
We are sure that it would lead us to some new suggestions regarding the air
conditioning system.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Our project methodology is divided in several points which are discussed as
follows:1. Duration
Its a long term project. It can be stretched to maximum 8 months. As, we have to
collect the various samples of different components dimensions and working of
AC system, which means surveying and that do cost us time.
2. Methods
Practical: - Field work is required to complete the project. So, we have to
acquire the practical knowledge first by knowing the applications and
working of each components.
Theoretical: - We are planning to read some research papers regarding this
topic or journals published recently for the same. We need some
mathematical formulas to deduce the final results to design the AC system
in software.
