JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH

OPENING PRAYER
John 15:11 (NIV)
11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
Prov 11:24-25
24 One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to
poverty. 25 A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be
refreshed.

2 Cor 4:8-9 (KJV)

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
2 Cor 4:8-9 (AMP)
We are hedged in (pressed) on every side [troubled and oppressed in every way], but not
cramped or crushed; we suffer embarrassments and are perplexed and unable to find a way
out, but not driven to despair;
9 We are pursued (persecuted and hard driven), but not deserted [to stand alone]; we are
struck down to the ground, but never struck out and destroyed;
Gal 6:9-10 (NIV)
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if
we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
2 Sam 21:15 (KJV)
15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his
servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
2 Sam 21:18-22 (KJV)
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at
Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant. 19 And
there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was
like a weaver's beam. 20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great
stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in
number; and he also was born to the giant.

21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the
hand of his servants.
2 Sam 22:1-4 (KJV)
And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had
delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: 2 And he said,
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 3 The God of my rock; in him will I
trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my
saviour; thou savest me from violence. 4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised:
so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

If People think that you are finished or you will no longer be able to stand up, dont worry this is
what the bible says about you.
Ps 37:23-24 (KJV)
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
Mic 7:8 (KJV)
8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness,
the LORD shall be a light unto me.
Thats why David Sang like this
2 Sam 22:7-9 (KJV)
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice
out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears. 8 Then the earth shook and trembled;
the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals
were kindled by it.
Say to Satan if you try me, you will be burnt with the fire of the lord.
2 Sam 22:29-30 (KJV)
For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness. 30 For by thee I
have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.
Why was David able to sing a song like this, because David Knew that:

1. Never it was the will of God for him and his soldiers to be defeated
2. God is a covenant keeping God.
Ps 89:33-34 (NIV)
33 but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness. 34 I will not
violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.
3. If God has done it once, he can do it again (David talking to saul about the way god
has

helped

him

when

he

was

shepherd)

1 Sam 17:34-37 (NIV)

34 But David said to Saul, "Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion
or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and
rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it
and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised
Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37
The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver
me from the hand of this Philistine."
4. God will never forsake him
Story of Paul and Ship Wreck
Acts 27:22-25 (KJV)
22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life
among you, but of the ship. 23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I
am, and whom I serve, 24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and,
lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I
believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.
I will tell you brothers you are not alone in the battle. There is a Captain of your Salvation, who
will not Jump out of your ship. He will direct you and take you to the shore.
You are not alone in any situation. So take a good cheer or courage. Be joy ful.
Hab 3:17-19 (NIV)
17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive
crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no
cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables
me to go on the heights.
At all situations be joyful and guard your Joy and see what happens
Jer 33:9-11 (KJV)
And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the
earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all
the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
10 Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be
desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of
Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,
11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the
voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the
LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the
sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of
the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.
If Satan Cant steel your Joy, he cant keep your things he has to return it to you.
Prov 6:30-31 (NIV)
Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving. 31 Yet if he is
caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.
He has to return it 7 fold.
