CODE IO Problem Statement


Topic : Application on IITG Services
6 Days Timeframe Hackathon
Statement:
1. Develop an application which provides services/information related to IITG.
2. The application developed should be benefical to IITG Community.
3. The application can either automate some process in IITG community, or provide updated
information services related to IITG.
4. Application can be developed on any platform, using any tool. Examples include, iOS
application, android application, windows phone application, web portal, Windows Desktop
application, Linux application, chrome extension etc.
Example applications:
1. Bus timings android application [Exists already] Can it be improved? Dynamically updated
bus application where people can provide feedback that this bus is delayed, or bus has
started from City. Expected arrival, expect departure based on the feedback?
2. College event schedule on web app as well as android. Contains calendar with updated
upcoming events, can be updated by faculty or staff or student representatives. Upcoming
event notifications, delay notifications.
3. Class, Exam Schedule: For all batches and years with feedback and dynamic updates to
change according to extra classes, quizes, cancellation of classes, change in venues.

4. Freshers Helper Application/Portal: A step by step guide to introduce to college, its
activities, their schedule, helpline, common issues and problems, forums for discussion,
ability to get to know each other on application and chat.
Notes
1. These are example ideas, you DON'T have to necessarily build on these ideas, although you
can.
2. You're given 6 days to develop application and no upper limit on number of developers who
can work on developing the application. Since its a lot of time, expectations are very HIGH.
3. You're not allowed to present the application or explan its features. The application should
be self sufficient with inbuilt help overlays (Google about this!), instructions and FAQ's.
4. Judges would be given your application as you have submitted. So should be complete
package, to make installation procedure easier and guided, with inbuilt help to know about
features.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Benefical to college.
2. Atleast one element of the application should be dynamic. That is serving static pages won't
count as valid application submission. Example: Displaying IITG Timetable available on
intranet, or bus timings tables, or pages about IITG and departments.
3. Self sufficient in terms of usability and installation.
