Discrimination
Many times the skin color, country of birth, religious differences, social
status and other factors have made life difficult and complicated for these
minorities. Minorities have faced many difficult challenges in the past in
order to become a part of the social world. In many cases they have been
challenged to make extreme changes in their ordinary livesto overcome
their apparent differences and become accepted as a part of
theirenvironment. There are vivid examples of prejudice for racism that
shows how the minorraces have to struggle much more than major ones
to get what they deserve.

There are billions of people in the world that suffer of discrimination or

the effects of it; the discrimination is causing a lot of problems in
this people that is victim of this social issue. There are different
types of discrimination is not only physical as we only know; it can
be physical, emotional, etc. To be discriminated is a problem that
has become more serious in our country Mexico. I will discuss the
discrimination problem in Mexico the types of it and I will talk about
an organization called CNDH (Comisin Nacional de los Derechos
Humanos) that is helping people to eliminate this problem, and I will
discuss how other people can help with this social issue.
One very frequent discrimination that we live is in the case of the United
States against Mexican people, Mexican Americans have been the
victim of discrimination throughout the history of the United States.
The media has played a big role in promoting the negative Mexican
stereo type. They have been discriminated against on the basis of
race, culture, language and ethnicity. The Ku Klux Klan in particular
has voiced opinions of negativity against Mexican Americans. They
are also held responsible for lynching a considerable number of
Mexican Americans during the time period between 1848 and 1928.
One of the main reasons that have led to the discrimination against
Mexicans is their illegal migration. This is why they have developed
a bad reputation and are frequently raided by the immigration
authorities. The great depression era saw a massive deportation of
Mexican Americans back to Mexico under the shade of a Mexican

Repatriation program. The number of people that were deported

during this era is known to have been around 500,000.

The United Nations explains: "Discriminatory behaviors take many forms, but they all
involve some form of exclusion or rejection." Maybe we are or we were victims of
this social issue and we didnt know it, I invite you to make a reflection of what are
we doing to solve this problem and if we are willing to endure this attitudes to our
person or to other persons.

There is no excuse for discrimination in America, we all have rights, and there
is no excuse for American to treat immigrants in this way.
