Erikson felt that much of life is preparing for the middle adulthood stage and the last
stage recovering from it. Perhaps that is because as older adults we can often look back on our
lives with happiness and are contented, feeling fulfilled with a deep sense that life has meaning
and we've made contribution to life, a feeling Erikson called integrity. On the other hand, some
adults may reach this stage and despair at their experiences and perceived failure.
Our patient achieved happiness and contentment in her life based on her actions and
speeches. She is faithful and devoted to her religion even though she is no longer an active
member. When asked what is her principle in life, she responded, Mamatay ako, magawa ko na
ang mission ko dito. She is ready to accept death completely and she have shared her
experiences in life to her beloved 5 children and grandchildren. Even though she accepted death
fully but her faith and love for God never changed.
